How to tell if they are systema?

alright I bought a p90 a while ago for the GF, we were told that the mechbox was reinforced and it had systema gears in it with some other goodies.

Anyways the guy seemed pretty straight laced and I was new to the sport. it game with a 10.8 volt battery so again assuming it was upgraded.

Anywho the battery ended up dieing on us so we asked if it should be lipo ready. He said yes and we put the 11.1v lipo in. It shot nice, lasted a season and still works.

Now here is the fun part. I am getting into gun "doctoring" so I descided to just do some work on the v6 mech box. I open it up aaaand well its got upgraded bushings, and a spring. How ever the piston is the stock plastic piston, cylinder looks stock, No reinforcments at all, and the worst part. Metal fucking shavings all over the gears. The gears look bone stock as well.

Is there any possible way I can tell if these things are stock or not. The p90 is getting a mosfet unit because its roughly the cost of a new battery... and the GF wants 3 round burst. So that should slow down the ROF and make these gears last longer. Also are some filings normal? I mean the mechbox may not have been opened for 2 seasons. the shim job seems alright.

Again as always with my tech threads I can snap some pics. There is no real wear on the piston. The wear seems to be on the spur gear.

On a side note Buyer beware, I would ask for reciepts for any upgrades that people claim they have done.

Good luck getting receipts.

If the gears and bushings/bearing are installed and shimmed properly, there shouldn't be any shavings inside the box, period. Something was not shimmed right and was rubbing somewhere. Degrease the gears and inspect them for damage and wear. Do the same for the bushings/bearings and the mechbox shell as well.

Mofset switch in and of itself won't reduce your rate of fire. A Triggermaster mofset switch has the capability to slow down the motor via it's programing sequence. A smaller voltage battery, like a 9.6v or 8.4v, will reduce your rate of fire though.

SystemA gears are usually black/very dark grey in color and are very nicely finished. No casting marks and very fine machining marks.

Honestly Im not sure how to tell. I know alot of the PDI parts are stamped with the name but thats a guess for your parts. And the metal shavings Id say a no to. Ive never seen that in a gun and had it working properly. Maybe its just me but hey.

As for getting the receipts for the upgrades, good luck. Some people, myself included have done alot of work on their guns. And after years of replacing parts I know I dont have even half the receipts of all the parts that have gone into that gun.

I can list off every part but having receipts from 4+ years ago is a little beyond whats going to happen Id think.

Any how good luck with your search, hope you find what you need.

yah sorry I should have specified, we are looking at the trigger master mosfet. Snapped some pics than my phone just descided *oh you need me? time to die!* so I will post them up. The gears look almost identical to my v3 gears... so yah assuming they are stock. Fuck I hate getting ripped off.

off topic, are we going to see your GF at the field this year?
as for the gun, who is the seller? if he has a good reputation, it may be that he did put SystemA gears in but didn't shim them right.

here are the pics. Took one of the shell too, doesn't seem to be any wear on either half... the piston looks ok to me and was just wondering if thats the stock cylinder.

as for the spur gear you can see what I mean the teeth seem a bit woren down.... there also seems to be some *swirling* on the sector gear.

The swirling is from improper shimming. Those do not look like my SystemA V2 gears at all. Especially the sector gear. Systema sector gear, the main body sits flush to the height of either gear set (ie, it is a solid cylinder, not with those large cutouts in it) except with several circular holes cut into them.

Neither the cylinder nor piston is SystemA (AFAICT)

Definitely not Systema. Look like stock TM gears to me. They look in pretty decent shape but are pretty filthy. Sector gear was shimmed too close to the spur gear. Can[t tell about the rest. Can't tell from the pics where the shavings could have come from.

Yup, looks like a stock TM piston and stock TM gears.

thanks guys. Looking through Airsoft kelowna it looks like he even deleted his FS post. Oh well we didn't pay more than $300 for it. I would have never put that lipo in if I knew they were stock internals. :banghead: I guess live and learn.

So where to go from here? Just a good reshim and A trigger master *Again GF is hooked on the idea of burst* The spring he tried to tell me was a 170... but it shoots 330fps on .25g so thats what a 150 or lower? glad he is out of the sport.

I think at the very least a bearing spring guide in there is in order. Thank god it is a stock piston or I bet those gears would be in way worse condition lol.

uggh too much black grease and the phone pics don't help much. Looks like stock cylinder and piston. Gears are not too clear in the pics but the bevel does not look stock as well as the anti-reversal latch. Sorry can't make out anything else, but systema gears have a very smooth finish. They simply "look " expensive. Stock gears look like they are casted and have a finish that looks like galvanized metal.

330 with .25 should be about 360-370 with .2 so the spring should be about a 90 or 100 depending on brand.

The Systema pistons I have put into guns are black as well. As that white piston matches the cylinder head, I'd say it's stock.

The wear really isn't that bad. I have seen much much worse, even on heavy reinforced gears. Those are all fine.
