Hollow helmet? (Makes my ears ring)

Hey guys. I have a cheap (but nice) plastic/ABS PASGT helmet with a flecktarn cover. I have one issue with it. It sticks out (its PASGT, lol. ofcourse it does). When someone shoots my helmet with a BB, since its plastic/ABS (hollow?) it makes my ears ring. I imagine that its because since its plastic, the sound of the BB hitting amplifies and gets so loud that it makes my ears ring.

Any tips on how to stop this? I was thinking of some type of foam insert...

I know crunch used to have one of these, maybe he can add some insight.

Cover the inside with Dynamat or other vibration absorbing materials.

No no. Not the cover. The helmet is ABS. The cover just goes over the helmet, doesnt matter. Theres nothing to absorb the shock and it seems its making my ears ring and hurt.

How much is dynamat?

Here in WPG there is a store called foam solutions that sells all types of foam products. I got memory foam and cut it to fit my helmet all around. Then got some Velcro with adhesive. Works and feels great. The memory foam helps to not absorb sweat so its great.

Go real deal and wear a pair of Peltor Sountrap, or better, Sordin or MSA hear electronic protectors.

You have to wear large headsets for those cheap PASGTs to even be close to decent. The flared openings are there to fit the headset.

Grab some knockoff Comtacs and wear them inside the PASGT. It will also hold the helmet in place.

...Replica Comtac's are like $145, according to the net.

Out of the price range. I'll probably get some Dynamat if it isnt too expensive and some foam. I'd get an electronic/passive hearing protector but I need to be able to hear enemies, and field commands.

EDIT: I forgot. I wear a JT Radar paintball mask under it. Some light foam should do the trick.

I have 2 PASGT replicas - one in ABS, and another made from fibreglass. I also have the CF issue Gallet helmet. Doesn't matter which one gets shot, it resonates like a mofo, although the fiberglass and kevlar ones resonate less than ABS. The Gallet helmet is actually the best, and I think that's just the nature of the padding inside that muffles the sound more. I don't have any suggestions that are better than what's been given here already.

Alright guys. And thanks crunch for replying. I'll throw some memory foam in it I guess.

Testtube shot me in the forehead one day, from about 100ft away using my M700, shooting around 500fps. I swear, my head rang like a bell when that 0.30g smacked me.

Nutshell, helmet or no helmet, it's possible to get your bean rung.

I still have about 20 sq ft. of B-quiet (Dynamat's competition) left over from my trunk lining. Used some of it to line my p90s with. Super stuff. Shoot me a pm if you want some.
