Vsr-10 Slam Fire Fix isnt for me?
I have a Vsr-10 wood stock TM clone that i recently bought off a friend. To make a long story short, its broken. It now slam fires. After reading many diffent things on slam firing for these type of guns, (man its a common problem!) I found that the problem was the sears in the gun. After taking my gun apart to see if it was the sears i noticed a little wear on the piston (which is plastic <- Important!) but after looking at the sears and comparing them to online photos of brand new ones at all angles, i found nothing wrong with them. So i was wondering, before i go out an buy brand new sears anyway dispite what i found, could it be thet piston has worn down not the sears? From what i know about the structure of metal is that Plastic doesnt wear down metal, actully Vica-Versa. It just seems more logical but being that i dont know much about these guns i want a second opinion from a person who knows what there talking about. Please and thank you.
Ps Please dont post anything if you dont know what you are talking about. I just want help and a second opinion not shots in that dark. |

hey dude i had the same problem with my VSR clone.. however with mine the piston sear was slightly worn. so if your piston is shaved at all i'd say replace it. altho the sears will wear eventually as well, u might want to think about replacing both just for reliability and frustration's sake.

VSRs and it's clones aren't meant to be upgraded for power (wear annd breakage is a safety feature put in to maintain Japan's 1J limit), and good chance your sears and/or piston are worn to the point that slipping is occuring. So you'd really only have the option of buying new sears (or the expensive Zero Trigger) and a new piston.
PM Amos regarding your issues and find out what options you have, he's the resident VSR god around here (CA M24 is my expertise). |

Well in my experience, a VSR with a PDI cylinder and stock sears shooting 380-400fps will last 3000 rounds
The moment you put that gun over 400fps, you'll be lucky if you get more than 20 rounds off before the sears break lol If your sears don't look worn on the catch, and they're still straight, then just buy a new piston |

There's no cheap fix for this.
You're either going to have to replace your sears, or your piston... Ideally you'd guy the rifle and replace everything... Sooo It seems your SOL until you come up with some money. |

But with the right tactics and taking advantage of the silent shot of a spring sniper rifle (even if stock), one could dominate the field even if it's full of AEGs. Even a stock rifle can out distance an upgraded AEG if it's adjusted right and it shoots heavier ammo. I've done it, why can't anyone else do it? AEGs are largely lacking in the range dept from what I've seen, and I've seen a lot of them including my own (200ft with 360fps MP5 and shooting 0.28g BBs). I see some repeating of old wive's tales above me.

And he has a clone that already shoots at 400ish FPS... It WILL break often. Until you can upgrade both the trigger and piston to a PDI set. It works like the L96 trigger unit, all the force on the sear is rotational instead of linear. That is why it does not break. |

Buying a stock CLONE sniper, is a really bad idea
Buying a stock marui VSR-10, they're actually pretty good stock. Throw in a tightbore, firefly rubber, 360-380fps spring and regrease your cylinder, it performs pretty damn good |

I plan to use .28 bbs in it and as for people saying upgrade your sears, well we will see what happens for i get the piston sometime next week. If it still doesnt work then ill post on this thread how stupid i was not to get the sears. But if you looked at my internals you would agree with me that the sears have nothing wrong with them and its definitly the piston. Hears Hopein :P.

Go with BB Bastard 0.30g or 0.36g BBs instead. 0.28g are too light for sniper use, my testing has shown roughly the same velocity between 0.28g and 0.30g BBs (among the Bastards that is, found a 20-30fps drop when I tested SIIS 0.30g BBs compared to the Bastards of the same weight), but you'll have a bit more stabillty with the 0.30g. Or you can go with 0.36g, have a lot of stability, and just have to learn to shoot them right (takes an eye as well as compensation for drop, but isn't that bad.)
All last year I ran my downgraded CA M24 at just under 400fps, used only 0.36g BBs and can get an easy 200ft from it, past that you are going into "Please Mother Nature, will you allow my BB to hit that guy?" territory (same with any other airsoft gun regardless of velocity). |

I find .30s work well at 400fps, as long as you adjust for windage properly
I always found .36's too expensive, but I'm going to give it a shot at the next winter game, especially now since I fixed my rifle and gained 60fps lol |
