Motor height adjustment
Can somebody outline the best way to get the motor height just right. After my first foray into the gearbox to change out the cylinder and piston and do my first shim job I found that I blew a fuse because the motor was too high. After backing down the adjustment all the way everything turns great. Is there a way of determining where exactly the motor should be? Let me know your procedures.

Adjust, semi shot, adjust, semi shot.
Repeat unless it sounds the smoothest/quietest. |

Yup, adjust for minimum noise. I usually tweak it like above, tightening it until I hear and feel the motor bog down and not turn the gears, then I back it off a bit. Is usually where the best setting is, just a turn or so from bottoming out.

If you want to be really picky, this is what I do with V2 mechboxes. Install the hand grip onto the bottom half of the mechbox while it's apart. Now, install the motor and the hand grip motor plate. You'll now be able to see the exact position of the pinon gear in relation to the bevel gear. Adjust the motor screw as required.
Yeah it's time consuming but you're guaranteed a near perfect adjustment the first time. |
