Is loctite safe?

Hey,

I've been having problems with my TM AK47 selector lever, long story short, it used to slip and cause the trigger to be unresponsive (in full auto) until resetting to safety and back.

I took it apart and tightened a screw that's next to the selector gears on the outside of the gearbox, and bent the selector arm so it would stay in place.

The lever is now sturdy, but the vibration of the gun still loosens the arm causing the problem to come back again.


I'm thinking of putting loctite (thread sealant) on the screw going through the selector arm to keep the vibration from loosening the screw.
Questions though:

1. I plan on taking my gun apart a few more times if this doesn't work. Will any loctite gunk build up in the geabox inner threads?

2. Is it safe to repeatedly use loctite as many times as possible?

Loctite (and other thread lockers) are frequently used in airsoft guns. Just make sure you don't use the permanent type. Nail polish is another thing one can use as a threadlocker.

Nutshell, go for it, it's safe as long as the type and amount is reasonable.

Typically the Loctite "Blue" is suitable for this. Its non-permanent, and suitable for anything under 1/2". It is usually recommended to prep the Loctite area with primer first. Loctite sells a spray primer, but you can also use acetone to nail polish remover.

For the love of god, don't even think you could get away with using red lol

And instead of a specific loctite primer, you can just clean the area with rubbing alcohol (or methyl ethyl ketone if you happen to have access to it)
