Recommendation for HK416
Waddup everybody. I'm new to airsoft and looking for my first AEG. Yes I'm over 18 (25) and I'm meeting up with someone shortly to get AVed. I'm looking at the HK416 model and just wanted to know which brand was good. My budget is below $400 for just the gun. I wanted something that I can get the most for the money (metal body, FPS and internals). I don't really care about the ROF bc I don't spray bbs. Any recommendations on brand and features would be great. Thanks

Your best bet would be to go with JG for a more economical stand point, and if you are lucky enough of to find one the best would be VFC.

The VFC is sweet. Some folks have had the DBoys one and say it's very close to the VFC.
I think if I was buying new right now I'd be getting a GBB rifle, there should be at least 2 versions of the 416 in the pipe.

there's really no shitty 416 on the market right now.
if you want high end externals, and mid~high quality internals, get the VFC. if you want mid quality externals and mid quality internals, get JG/Dboys Metal bodied versions. if you want mid quality externals and high quality internals, get SRC Cansoft. the worst one you can get(IN COMPARISON TO THE OTHER 416 ON THE MARKET) is probably the Velocity Arms 416, cansoft externals and mid quality internals. |

The last version of the JG HK416 is full metal.
Seriously, the full metal SRC seems like a good choice. Of course, the VFC would be better but I'd put the full metal SRC right behind it, in second place.

I demoed the SRC version on sunday.
For the price, it really is quite good, and very hefty at that. The model I tried's mock bolt kept getting stuck open when I tried to access the hopup, but that is my only complaint. The ROF was good. The gun made a nice sound, and I equate that to a good quality gearbox. (Although that is probably completely wrong) The FPS was a tad hot, but thats an easy fix. |

I was looking at the JG one and it seems to fit the budget very well. I was wondering if anyone got that, the one sold on VA website. Does that one have lots of aftermarket parts? I would like to upgrade here and there as time go on. Do u think its game worthy? Like the body.

And also, is there anything about the 416 that I should be looking for b4 buying? like metal gears or anything? I know that it varies from brand to brand. Still I'm not gonna be getting something over my budget but I do want to get close. I don't mind taking it apart to upgrade if I have to. How about if I got a cheap one then upgrade the parts? Do u think that would be more cost effective?

SRC and VFC shouldn't require upgrades out of the box.
The JG will for sure. I can't say anything about the DBoys, I've never seen it. |

On the VFC you usually want to change the cutoff lever. Since it's out of production right now you'll have to look for a used one and that will most likely have had this part swapped already.
If cost is no object watch for a Hurricane 416 kit, they pop up on here every once in a while.
