G&P Elken
Raise your hand if you have an G&P Scope, keep your hand up if you have an Elcan by G&P (they call it the Elken)
I'll do a review along with other stuff in my winter break but for now I got several questions, (even owning one) The only 3X+ scope I've used was an Trijicon TA31 RCO in the states, but I can't compare the two since they're for different purpose. This the first scope I see overlapping image of magnification stuff, is this normal? What I mean is you see a full picture and another picture overlapping but its move to the right causing distortion. Sorry can't post picture as my camera is not available. Does anyone have this problem on other G&P scope? like TA31 and ACOG? Couple of notes: The rubber mold seam is very obvisous, and the mounting looks awkard, spring tension is pushing it up in the front end of the mount and a screw is holding it down in the rear (elvation adjustment) |

Hmm just did a lil test with 20ft...(something is awfully wrong with my hopup, its going everywhere)
I notice that at certain eye relief its perfectly clear, at other its blurry crosshair or the light interference I was talking about. Also FYI, the rubber stinks worse the Coleman Propane. Smells like hot tire that skid down a gravel road. |

no, the biggest problem is that the overlapping is killing me, I can get it about 8cm of relief however, within 8cm certain length will have overlappign images.

Sounds like a defective optic.

G&P should have a better eye relief than the elane clone I have...
And I get something like ~10cm range. There is a good chance it's defective, since the G&P is suppose to be better quality. |

I've seen the Elken sights a few times and wasn't overly impressed with them. Images aren't very sharp compared to most other airsoft magnified optics.
Of the Elcan replicas I've seen to date, The Classic Army replica of the M145 seems to have the best optics of all. And I love it's illuminated red / green crosshairs. The down side for those going for an authentic CF look is that it's a repro of the optic M145 used by the US Marines, and not the C79 used by the CF. It has the illumination adjustment knob on the side, the mount is different, and it doesn't have the rubber backup sights on top. When it comes to the C79 replicas, the nicest ones I've seen so far are the ones Huang sells. Their optics are great with the same 7cm eye releif of the real steel. And of course, it has the real Elcan trades. IMO, if you're going for a 100% authentic CF look, this is the sight to get.

Trigger happy "Elane" is the best ive seen out of G&P, Huang's, Classic Army, Chinese clones, etc. Dual colour 5 intensities, sharp optics, reasonable eye releif. VERY Solid, Only beef is that its a bit heavy from the steel construction. Rubber doesnt smell at all. No rubber Backup sight tho

Heard that the G&P one is pretty bad compared to most other Elcans out there. I've heard rumors that the chinese Elcan is a clone of the Samurai Elcan, which is supposedly the absolutely best (and WAY rare aswell!).
EDIT: Oh and the chinese clones are supposedly good quality too. In the future I might try one. If anyone has tried it then please leave us some feeback on it!

I've also heard the rumor that the samurai clone is the best, and most faithful to the canadian military version (2 mounting screws and iron sights instead of 1 spring-loaded for the elane)
I've never handled any besides the elane clone and the real one though. |

The TH Elane Optic is not a "clone" of the Spectre OS (C79). It is a copy of the yank used M145 MG optic. They run the 145 on their SAWs rather than the C79 that we do.
The Elken is by far the bottom rung of elcan clones, the one's I've handled have had poor relief, poor glass, and amazingly weak overtorque disks. I can't comment on the chinese ones, but the Samurai Illuminated one was by far the best, though nothing compares to the real DR optic... it might cost $1800 but boyo, its nice.
