L85 Mags

Hi,

Looking at getting a L85 from ARES,

Not sure if I could use standard M4 mags (Marui like),

Would it work?

The L85 uses STANAG magazines, so pretty much any M4/M16 type mags should work (allowing for the vagaries of construction from top-end compaies to cheapos).

On the ARES web site, they appear to be different:

well if you look at the l85 mag and the m16 mag just below it, the feeding system on the top of each is exactly the same.

I've used a Star (Ares stole their stock...) L85 and I can confirm that marui mags work in them.

I own one.. it eats anything... I have not found a M4 mag that it's not happy to feed from.

Get the ICS one... you can adjust the spring to 3 levels of FPS so good for out and indoors (all without taking the mechbox apart)

Regular M4 AEG mags work in both the G&G L85 and the Star L85.

I have no idea if Ares changed anything with the Star L85 (that'd be a dumb thing to do, but not beyond the realm of possibility), but I doubt it.
