Kraken Kurz nylon or metal gearbox?
Hello all! This is my first post here at airsoftCanada, I have got the money for my first airsoft gun as I love everything about guns, and the army.
Now, on aftermathairsoft.com the Kraken kurz is titled with a metal gearbox, same with on basspro, where I will be getting it at, Now, on the internet I hear rumors and threads saying that it is nylon? Can I get a verification that it is Metal? If not I will just buy the Kraken. |

it is not a metal gearbox, on most websites they say its a PC gearbox which sounds like it means polycarbonate or some other stupid stuff:P
and i have gotten close enough to the gun to see that the gearbox is indead plastic! get the kraken, i just purchased one as a loaner gun and i am impressed! the new model of it( the one with black parts, not OD green) come stock with metal bushings which the older ones did not have! save your money, get the kraken |

Get something over 300 dollars, a CA, G&G (not the clear ones, blecchh), ICS, TM even, if you can save that much (which I seriously doubt).

honestly i really say aftermath is a great brand....
ive owned a G&G mp5a4 which broke down in about 3 weeks i owned an SRC g36 which lasted 2 months on both of those guns i had to replace the piston and the tappet plate and i really get pissed off when i buy a gun 300$+ and it breaks down! but heres the thing, ive owned a kraken for a year and a half now and it has not once broken down! they are solid guns with good fps and a sustainable ROF |

That's just your experience though, and only using a sample size of 1. You can't really get a good idea with just 1 "review" or experience or the variance is quite high.
That being said however Aftermath does make decent guns, you just have to know what to expect of it. I would get my hands on one even if it's only to use as a loaner but personally I don't think they deserve as great of a rep as people make them out to be.

Aftermath doesn't make any guns, they're rebranded CYMA.
While the components of aftermath guns aren't bad in theory, the quality control sits somewhere between "complete and utter shit" and "non-fucking existent." Seriously, just do a search on the forum here for the Kraken and other aftermath products, and you'll find they have a 40%-50% failure rate, which is fucking ridiculous. One user with one good experience doesn't cancel the many other users with bad experiences.
