Thumbs up Found: A Blackhawk Holster for TM 4.3 that works

Hey Everyone

I thought I would share a piece of news for those with a TM 4.3 and 5.1's. While the normal Blackhawk Serpa for the 1911 does not work (because the trigger guard is square, and the holster is for the rounded one) i thought about it and realized that the Blackhawk Serpa holster that can hold the Xiphos light mounted to your 1911 would ignore the fact that your 4.3 or 5.1 has a square trigger guard.

If the light is behind the trigger guard, it does not really matter what shape it is.

Link to said holster (http://www.blackhawk.com/product/Lev...,1180,1410.htm)

After purchasing one for not too much ($25 USD from Opticsplanet.com not sponsored or work for them ) I crossed my fingers

Here are some pictures of my 4.3 (Stock gun, only mod is a metal slide) and it locks into place!

The only catch right now is that it is right handed only, and i am southpaw so this makes it a little weird to draw, but there is always a catch right?

Now, i have not drop tested or field tested it "yet" (sunday will be the first). I am tempted to get a Xiphos now...damn more money spent

how is the holster holding up maxdbunny? does the pistol stay in the holster if turned upsidedown and shaken? i also have a tm 4.3 and wanted a nice serpa type holster for it, so hard to find information about such things but this looks promising lolz is the slide a tight fit? or is it basically a pretty perfect fit? the only thing i'm worried about the holster is the holster itself scratching up my pretty dual stainless slide, so i just wanna make sure tat its a smooth draw and holster and tat its easy on the slide and that its skirmishable.

so the holster is holding up well. I used it on a Tactical Belt at a game a few weeks ago and it works very well. I have a all metal black slide so i can not see if i've made any scratches. the inside of the holster has scratches, but who cares

It is not too tight of a fit, although re hoster does take some getting used to. I am moving it up to my chest rig to see if its easier to holster. If turned upside down the pistol will not come out, however if pulled hard enough, the gun can be removed. i suppose if i bought the xiphos light, it would aid the fit.

That being said no other light (m3 or variants) will work. it has to be the blackhawk one for the right side activation i believe. i have not bought one yet, but so far i like it.

one added benefit for me is i am a southpaw, so all left handed holsters cause me to hit my mag release if i sling my primary. with the serpa, it covers up the mag release for my 4.3 so i do not have premature mag release

For anyone wondering the high-capa 4.3 also fits perfectly into a Glock 17 Safariland holster. If you are worried about losing you pistol they are more solid then SERPAs in my opinion. I just got mine, and it is working great!

No it locks down but if pulled with enough force like you take the holster in one hand and gun I another you can rip it out

as for the safariland holster I was going that route but the serpa was cheaper

It does not appear they are going to make a left handed one.

It appears that it has gone up in price since i last got it.

i suggest some kind of foam (sorbothane) or pick and pluck remains from a pelican case to fill out the side of the holster where the light *should* be (closest to thigh) the gun engages the locking feature far better.

Did you get the one with a paddle, and if so, is the paddle removable?

No. It only fits the light blackhawk makes which is to be mounted offset on the weapon so you can only use there light with there holster. Its like 180$ but ive heard if you trade your current light and holster to them, they will give you a discount on a serpa + light kit. (:
