Custom M14?

Hey all,
Im looking to get an M14 for a sniper set up and have had a look around the forum and read up a bit on this.
However, I just saw that my local shop has one that was custom built and I wouldnt mind some input on whether or not its worth the price they want.

What the shop has got: M14 "Custom" with real wood stock, Marui extrenals, and JG internals. Price 420 euro (I live in Italy right now)

However, I can get a stock TM m14 for about the same and Kart or CYMA for half that.

So... they pullin a fast one (it wouldnt surprise me...they are bit shifty. But I do get a discout )

Regards,
J

Thats way overprice, even for Italy...

'Real Wood' can mean so many things those days.
TM external = probably a TM rail on it.
JG internals = that gun use to be somekind of chinese clone.

I wouldn't get it.

just get a TM M14. You can run that stock for a long time with no problems. That way, you can slowly upgrade it over time as you get more money. And yes, you can get a real wood stock for it. i got one and love it. trust me, as i did A LOT of research on the M14 before i bought one. Get a stock TM one, and then upgrade it. You WONT be disappointed.

Eesh.. that bad huh? Cool thanks for the heads up. I was kinda wonderin about the TM, as most (if not all) the posts regarding them seemed to be possitive. So I smelt a bit of a Rat when a "Custom" was going for the same as a Stock rifle.

A new in box Mauri M14 runs about 400Euro in Italy if my memory serves me right, and Karts were somewhere in the 200Euro area. If you can purchase a new TM for the same price as a Kart then stop sitting in front of the keyboard and go buy it already! (maybe not right now since its night time there at the time of this post.)

Edit:
Poking around on some of their local forums right now I see some Kart M14s with stocks made by J Allen Enterprises for about 160 Euro.
However Im not sure if those stocks are authentic or cloned, either way, 160euro is not a terrible price.

LOL! Yeah you're pretty much on the money there Seven. 400 Euro and change... although, I just spied one for 289 euro on safarasoftair.com

I gotta double check though, cause I've heard stories about not getting exactly what you order from these guys.... but 289 vs 400+. Could do worse. I wouldnt mind sticking with TM if I can help it as I'd like something that I don't have to mod right away. Simply a rail to mount my scope and a bit of spray paint.... and Im happy....for now

There are so hit or miss horror stories out there, but the same can be said about any country and any item when it comes to online shopping.

Im not sure if the idea dawned on you at all but being in Europe you have the possibility for traveling around who knows, maybe you could find a nice walk in shop in Paris or something.

It has occured to me to shop around for sure. Being in Europe, you can order from any E.U. country and not pay duties, import tax or broker fees. But VAT changes from Country to country and I get a VAT exemption here in Italy
Which is nice.... although it dosent kick in until I spend 240 euro

Must be cloned. A real-deal JAE stock is $600 USD.

The KART JAE M14's are pretty crappy. The stocks are very plasticy (worse than a TM FAMAS) and the AEG does not sit well inside the stock (IMHO too much wiggle room). Regarding the AEG itself, it is not too bad, but could use a shim job and upgrading the anti reversal latch.
