Deans Connectors

Hello, im very new to Deans connectors. Are all the dean connectors the same or is there a specific brand that is better? Any suggestions on where I can get a decent deans connector??

Also, would I have to change the wires on the battery and connector wire in the gun or can I just solder the dean connectors on to the wire?

I know that alot of ppl put deans connector and its second nature to them. Im just very new to this, sorry for the newb question!

Deans is the brand. Model is Deans Ultra. You can pickup some deans connector clones on Dealextreme. A lot cheaper than the original ones. They are called T-Connectors.

+1 for deal extreem. You can get 10 full sets for like 6 bucks shipped.

Sure, they might give you slightly more resistance then genuine deans, but the real deal can go for like 10-15 bucks each.

The resistance difference is insignifficant. For an AEG you'll never run enough current through it to matter.

If you use the t-connectors from dealextreme make sure you use a hot hot iron. The plastic around the connector is chpeaper and less heat tolerant than deans ultra and because the leads dissapate heat very well. Using a low power iron you'd have to leave the iron on the connector longer than necessary. I'd say 40 Watt min.

... Oh and make sure you tin the leads first if you don't already know. There should be plenty of youtube vids on Deans. Also make sure you put the correct connector on the battery and charger. (exposed leads on a charged battery is no good)

very important thing to note with deans. male on the gun, female on the battery. it will save from inadvertent shorts when the battery is disconnected and in a gear bag.

Yeah, since those li-po batteries have a very high discharge rate, a short with those can actually weld some metal. So make sure to install the female on them. This is very important!

Also any battery that shorts can spark and cause a fire and shorting a lipo will probably kill it because it unbalances the cells and one of them may overcharge and lead to a flaming battery.

99.9% of the time, the real deal is better than the clone. This is one of those times.

Yep, in my experience, the clones are better because you can get them with a textured edge for better grip when unplugging.

i have like 20 pairs of theses... they are tough as hell and are hard to melt if you let the iron in it too long. i use them in all my aegs and the performs perfectly!! WAY better than the shitty tamiya connector

especially for boxes that are prewired with mini connectors. it won't perform any worse with a clone.

clone or real deal is an upgrade period.
