Second hand gun question.

Im looking at picking up a G&G UMP off of a guy for $130 bucks, with no battery and charger, and sadly I dont have any batteries sitting around to take and check it out with. Is it worth the risk to buy a gun you cant fire off and test?

Go to a local RC shop and pick up a battery. There's no reason to not test it out if you have the chance to.

all signs point to it being cansoft though. which is in the high 300 areas... so it's about what I'd pay if it was messed up, not a real deal.

You are going to have a big headache fixing it if you haven't mastered gearboxes and gun body repairs.

Learn some Mechboxe tips through videos here - http://www.mechbox.com/

When I got my first gun a TM MP5K for cheaper than $300 I was happy as hell, it was the cheapest I can find and me thinking TM is a good brand which it is but unfortunately as good as a brand can be the owner and the years of use can seriously wear it down especially when the gun has 3 years + mileage on it

If that UMP is really messed you would end up spending upwards to almost as much as a new Cansoft gun would cost

With really really used guns most likely you have to change
- Hop up rubber
- The whole hop up unit if it is mangled beyond repair
- Wiring (If you see eletric tape all over the place, replace it)
- Motor (Its usually about to die, you can even smell it)
- Gearbox internals

Well I went out and got it from the kid, he was heading to university and it woulda been a nono in the dorms, Its less than a year old, got home and first thing I did was do a field strip down on it, all the internals are clean at least, really no wear on the outside or inside of this gun. Going to plug in a battery to it in a few days and we'll see how it turns out. Its new enough that the mags are still a snug fit into the reciever and dont show that they've been used alot.

I guess he's confident enough to fix it if it has problems. He could always send it to a gun doc too I guess.

I didnt really ignore any of the advice given. I took it all into consideration, and made sure I took a good look over it before purchasing, if it works, for $130 it was a steal, if theres something wrong, the I enjoy projects. Didnt mean to insult anyone by not heeding any warnings etc.
