[56k Death]Dboys Mauser Kar98k Real wood Spring Action

*Thanks to Photobucket for removing my picture, you can make me stop using your service, but you cannot stop my conviction.
*Dboys Kar98k Spring action airsoft rifle with stock made of "Real Wood"
*Dboys Kar98k Shells
*Dboys Kar98k Stripper Clip
*Tanaka Kar98k Repro sling
*Militarytour.com Repro Kar98k Stripper Clip pouch (each carry 6 clips)
*Militarytour.com National Socialists German Battle Flag (sorry I don't like the party flag)
*Northridge International Repro Mauser Kar98k Steel Stripper Clip

History of the Mauser Gewehr 98, Karabiner 98k
-----------------------------------------
Gewehr 98 (World War I/ World War II) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G98
Karabiner 98k (World War II)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karabiner_98k
Dedicated site to Mauser 98k http://mauser98k.internetdsl.pl/indexen.html

Quick Comparison amongst airsoft:

Cosmetically:

Made in China, so heads up. When I first receive it, I can see wood chipping as well as the wood below wing safety. I could also see dings on my bolt handle and the magazine follower.
The paint on the gun chips extremely easily, as I tried to place my gun on cement gently it still scratch it. The bolt area the paint and metal strips quite a bit. When I field strip it for maintainence I always find metal and paint dust. The wood is what I should say...They are real wood tried to be real but it feels like plastic to me. Also beware; the wood behaves much more like brittle plastic to me, especially the dents and the surface feels more like plastic. I got some dents on my stock already, and I will say you need to use gloves and handle it like a baby otherwise its easily scratch and/ or dent.

Operation:
Overall the bolt push cock system with the shells isn’t my favourite. It’s really hard to cock if you push it in slowly, if you push it fast and the bullet did not feed properly you will feel the pain on the palm and the shell will be dented.

Accuracy:
The ranges I took are just in my garage so about 22 feet total. The accuracy of this gun is iffy, I can get 1inch but, that’s with a gun being a meter stick. The hop up is a pain in the ass; you need use an allen ranch to adjust it. The main fault from the poor accuracy is from the 3 stage barrel (Shell Chamber, 6mm innerbarrel, and finally 8mm innerbarrel) as well as the crappy hopup. From what I know, AEG barrel would work, however, the hopup cutout is aprrox 1.5inch away not like AEG barrel when its at the entrance of the inner barrel.

Accessories:
Officially from D-Boys the only accessories available are:
*Extra shells which comes in sets of 5 (RSOV likes to sell em in twos)
*Stripper Clip, DO NOT GET THESE, they're more expensive and more crappy than the centirefire version.
Others available are:
*Sling, I use a Tanaka one, but really WWII 98k repro will work since it’s the same design
*Mauser 98k Stripper Clips, These are alot cheaper and better than the Dboys.
*ZF41 Scope
*ZF39 Scope this one will require modification to the receiver of the Dboys 98k just like the Mauser one. Just a note ZF39 is the ones most people are familiar with for games and movies.
*Pouches, any Mauser 98k pouches would work. I got mine from Militarytour, its tight fit but great for reenactors.
*Bayonet the Dboys have Bayonet mount like the Mauser one, theoretically it should would.

Ratings:
Compared to what I heard people say on the forum, this is my first airsoft gun for your information

Realism: 3.5/5
*only 2 modes of fire (Safe locked, or fire unlock instead of 3 where safe unlock does not exist)
*No Trades c'mon you clone peoople's design why not real gun's trademark?
*Low quality wood in my opinion, felt like plastic to me
*Shells design is cool except the stripper clip aint

Handling: 3/5
*Constantly have feeding problem where the shells did not enter the chamber properly and stuck
*Ejecting shells doesn't work unless you pull it back fast

Newb usability: 3/5
*Its cheap...the gun is accessory arent (I got 60 shells and 12 clip and it cost more than the gun it self without the import fee. The the number of clips a German Soldier is issue with by standard punch space.)
*Spring design = More Reliable, however the shells makes it otherwise unless "load one shoot one"
*Accuracy, dont expect to snipe people with it I would say 50ft-75ft as max
*Its not really a hot gun, most site would probably allow the FPS even if its auto (sorry newbie does not have chrono)

General Outcome: 3.5/5
+Its a shell ejecting gun great for plinkers
+It is the cheapest gun and the cheapest accessory available
+close to the real steel except the bolt cocks when you lift the bolt in real steel, and theres not trademark
-Made in China, poor quality, accessory is poor durability. Shells dents easily.
-Poor accuracy from 3 stage barrel and crappy hop up, makes this an infantry weapon if you really want to skirmish with it.

What is this gun suitable for?
Plinkers:
*If you can't afford buying 8mm Mauser or reloading it get the airsoft 98k. If you can buy the 8mm Mauser 98k from surplus, Its most likely cheaper $500 would probably get a decent working one. Reliability of a 64 years old gun is probably better than a new Dboys
*If you don't want to go to range and would like a backyard shooter pick this

Wall hanger:
No reason, if its displayed you need to have it displayed according to a non-restricted firearm, so a Tanaka or 8mm Mauser 98k beats it.

Skirmisher:
*Infantry, Wanna meter stick for your rifle? Want to take care of your $3/bullet? Negative to both rule out this one
*Sniper, Wanna inaccurate gun? Rule this one out Go for tanaka its better with since stage barrel, and adjustable fps

Newbies: If yes to the following pick this
*Want a rifle that is close to the real operation?
*Not planning to skirmish?

As I said, the shells are pain in the ass to baby sit for plinking as they get scratch and dent easily already, games probably makes it worse since a bullet is about $3

Yeah, I do seem to recall that they do work. Check out the reviews on WW2AA.com, there is something on there if I do recall.

you gotta be kidding me, which part doesnt it work? the Dboys clips are so crap that if it the repro mauser clip can be modify I'd rather use the mauser ones.
I finally figured out how the detail disassemble the dboys. Im wondering if the mauser 98k stock would work. maybe Ill try it out.

I got mine today, they work wonderfully, I'm replacing my old ones only complaint I have is that it is really really really stiff and you need like 100N to push it down. Im guessing did you got the 7.5mm Mauser or the C96 Mauser clip?.

Well they dont fit in that space for the clip. They just get stuck cuz its too small. Perhaps your right, probably 7.5mm.
