G&G M16/M4 which one?

In the G16 series I wonder which one to chose. I'm 5'9 1/2 so I could be confortable with the A3 but I wonder if it's too long for nothing. Will their be a big change in precision/distance with a shorter barrel?

I probably gonna play mostly outdoor since I dont think their is a lot of urban setting around here but if I play indoor, the A3 might be a little too big for CQB.

Best bet is to go with the standard M4 length, carbine length. If you are unsatisfied with the performance accuracy-wise, then you can always slap a tightbore barrel in, or even a silencer with an extended barrel underneath it.

But really it should come down to what you like the look of best.

Edit: but if you plan to do indoor at any point, a short one would be a better bet.

I stopped my choice on 2 models and I need help.

The first one is the standard M4




The second is the M4 RAS




It all comes down on 2 things: does the forward handle really change something and is the rail system really useful (will I feel the need to add a sight)

A good bet might be to fill out your profile a bit more to let us know where you are. From there you could always get out to a game or a retailer's location (if they are open to the idea) to hold the gun and see how you like it before you invest in it.

To ansewere your questions about the vertical grip and rail system. In my experience I find a vertical grip to be pretty useless unless you have an M16 lenght gun. I'm 5'7"ish and I use an M4 - I find myself holding the mag well more often than the vertical grip. As for the rail system it can really come in handy. It will allow you to add; flashlights, lasers, knives, other guns, the kitchen sink, monitor lizards, well you get the point... :P
If you like to accesorize your gun then a rail sytem can defiantle come in handy.

Rails are hells useful. You can mount a PEQ box so you'll be able to run a whole day with one battery. You can mount any type of optics you'd want (reflex, RDS, etc.), There's even a beer can holder accessory for guns.

The vert grip however may be a different story. If you wanna shoot like the guys in the magpul video then you might as well not get one...

Ok, If I wanted to get a new Classic Army gun. Would it be possible or the classified on this forum only have used one?

Why go with a replica? The real thing can be found at most pet stores. The only real issue is mounting your monitor lizard to the gun. With a real monitor lizard it can get a bit tricky with all the squirming, biting and clawing. However with patience and some sedatives it can be done. Once you have a monitor lizard attached to your gun you're pretty much untouchable in CQB.


On topic though, is there any particular reason you want to go with a CA M4/M16 over a G&G? Is it just the metal body or are there other factors at play?

I want a first good solid gun with excellent external. I don't mind upgrading the internal after.

From what I've seen so far the G&Gs have both excellent internal and external quality. Even though you're limited to plastic recievers I have to admit they're really good. I've been using 2 G&G M4s as rentals for 4 months now and neither of them have had any issues. If you're hell bent on getting a full metal you can always buy a good aftermarkt metal body for $100 - $200.

Just playing devils advocate. I still hope you can get AV'd soon and find what you're looking for on the boards.

No problem Tex. I've been attaching monitor lizards to guns since '95.

I agree with Harbinger. I'm thinking of buying my first Airsoft rifle as the G&G GR16 R4 Commando version (the Mach1 package) and I'll probably switch to a metal receiver later on when I have some experience playing.

Of course, I'll keep my lower receiver just in case.
