5.1 and 4.3 pic's.... need help

Need your help guys.. I'm really undecided on the 4.3 and 5.1. I'm leaning towards the 4.3 because its smaller but the 5.1 seems to have more for it. What im really after here is a pic of a 4.3 and 5.1 beside eachother.

Also is there more then one kind of 5.1?

Not sure if the thread should be in here or the media section. But if needs to be moved im sure someone will do it for me.

If you are just talking about Marui, then there is only one kind of 5.1, and there are now I think 3 kinds of 4.3 now.

There is a new 5.1 Hi-Capa, the 5.1R. Not entirely sure what the differences are between it and the standard 5.1 though.

As for which pistol to get it depends on what/how you intend to use it. If you're looking into IPSC style shooting then the 5.1 would be the way to go, due to the plethora of aftermarket parts and upgrades available.

If you're more focused on skirmishing the 4.3 is a good choice, especially in CQB. I own both and I find the 4.3 a bit more maneuverable due to the shorter length. It's a small difference in feel but it's definitely there. In addition, the 4.3 has an integrated rail, whereas the 5.1 has it as an optional attachment that requires you punch out pre-marked holes in the frame.

Either one is an excellent choice and it really depends on what you think you would feel more comfortable with. I had the same dilemma a while back so I just went ahead and bought both. I use my 5.1 for CAPS, and my 4.3 with a tactical light for indoor. For outdoor, I use my TM 1911. One reason I avoided using my 5.1 for outdoor use is due to the length of the stock magazine release button. It's just long enough that under certain circumstances it can be engaged by your own holster and release your mag into the wild.

The 5.1R is essentially a "boys" version of the Hi-Capa series. Blowback strength is the same, but with lower velocity.

There are just as many aftermarket parts for the 4.3 as the 5.1, because for all intents and purposes, the two platforms are exactly the same and all parts are cross-compatible. It's not hard at all to convert a 4.3 in to a 5.1 and vice versa (I just finished building a 4.3 in to a 5.1 1911 straight barrel).

I find both handle well... the 4.3 looks nice, but I always say this about block cut slide/frame setups like the 4.3: It's not as easy to holster, due to the large/square muzzle profile. It looks nice, though. Not a huge issue, but it's something to be mindful of, especially if you're using a soft holster.

As far as CAPS/IPSC/Action Air type of practical shooting - it is not uncommon for a stage to require you to shoot with your left hand. If the situation forces you to draw the weapon and take it off safety all with your left hand, then you will need to be mindful of what pistol you end up going with. The standard Hi-Capa 4.3 has a right handed safety. The 5.1 comes with ambi safeties, as does the dual stainless 4.3. This is the main reason that I tell people to pick the 5.1 if they're working on a tight budget (the dual stainless is a bit pricier), but ultimately, if you really like the looks of the standard 4.3 and have a bit of money in your budget to change things, it's not hard at all to slap on ambidextrous safety levers.

The integrated rail has no place for practical shooting use, but if you're using it for skirmishing, the integrated rail is nice if you're planning on using a combat weapon light or even better, a LAM. The add-on rail for the 5.1 hangs a bit low and does have a tendency to move over time - so if you're using a laser aiming module, the zero can go off.

I thought about the xtreme BUT not a fan of the fake chrome looking abs. Not sure on the full auto pistols.

Then there's of course the Para Ordnance P14 which started the whole real steel double stack M1911/2011 weapons. In airsoft it's a 5.1 compatible pistol.




I for one sold my original Hi-capa 5.1 Government to buy the P14 for its classic look.

But what do I use to power it? Propaine? green gas? Co2?

Propane, Internal of TM are ready for propane but not the external, still I rarely seen one broken the slide except the WE gun

Marui GBBs can take propane (for the most part).

If you want it to last for as long as possible, then use duster.


But many owners use propane with very little problems.

Use CO2 if you want things blowing up and having sharp fragments fly in to your face and hands. You'll have the most expensive airsoft hand grenade on the market!
