Mach 1 Airsoft - The Commando

Hello,

I have heard good things about Mach 1 airsoft so I decided to check their online store. When I saw the G&G GR16 R4 Commando and that it was a pack I was interested. I was wondering what your guys thoughts if I live in B.C. and the company is in Ontario if it was a good choice and a good deal for the weapon and the addon's it has.

Haha, oh yah I totally understand. Im sure il just hook up at a Bigfoot Game, the Mission ferry, or Panther gaming and get an age verifier their. Thanks for letting me know though that their are BETTER guns at that section.

Haha, nice, one more question. Are the airsoft guns cheaper in that section? Because it did sort of feel Mach 1 was overpriced a little.

You can pretty much find any model of gun you're looking for. Some rarer than others but they do pop up sometimes.

Armalites and AK's are the standard ones you'll find everywhere and are pretty commonplace.
You can sometimes pick up things like G36 and MP5's which I've found to not pop up as often.
Even rarer are guns like the AUG, P90, SA80 which sometimes do pop up.

Prices range from $300-2000+ depending in the package and what's included.

Head over to the local Op-For or BCAC forums. I believe they are holding an FNG day ("boot camp") soon. If you ask nicely you might be able to feel and shoot some of the guns other players own so you can better decide what you like. I don't think you need a gun before going to the FNG day but if not then see if you can secure a rental from someone (just ask on BCAC or Op-For). Also "3quip airsoft" does rentals and gundoc work (3qiup is run by Kampfer)

Mach 1 have decent pricing actually. If you're comparing Canadian airsoft prices to foreign prices, you're in for some sticker shock that's for sure. We can often expect to pay 2x or more.

The guns you see online and being sold to the general public with clear receivers are low to mid-grade guns from G&G and ICS. Not bad guns overall. Internally, they're exactly the same as their more expensive all-metal models, but with clear lowers and lower grade externals to keep the price down. Still, they're a lot better than the more commonly available Aftermath and Tactical Force stuff you normally see, and light years ahead of the all clear junk.

Once age-verified, you'll have access to not only clear, but all black guns not normally available to the general public. Those do cost more, and expect to pay 2-3x the price you'd see on a foreign site. That's just the way airsoft is in Canada. It's expensive. You can expect to pay in the $325-400 for a new, all-black JG gun (depending on the model). You can expect $500+ for Tokyo Marui or an all-metal Classic Army. Often, it's better to look at used guns, because you'll often get upgraded guns with accessories or extra mags, batteries, etc for cheaper than the cost of the same gun new.

I guess I will take your advice and wait till I get age verified, and look at the full black airsoft guns and the used.

So I am guessing used guns are reliable? What would I need to check for?

Not 100% on this, but I'm pretty sure that the higher cost has to do with airsoft being in the "grey" area of the law. You can find a lot of information on the topics in certain forums on here (they're stickied, good reads when you're bored!). It has to do with the importers having to have liscenses, the added fees, and apparently they can only (sometimes?) import 3 at one time (something to do with replica importing, which in the nature of our sport, all our guns are.. or at least the black ones)

Used guns are SOMETIMES reliable. Case in point, I bought a used ICS M4 for $300 in the classifieds (which is a steal considering it's full metal.. good quality gun.. if you check out ICS even their cansoft plastic lowers are 400 and upwards) only to find out the guy used a 450 FPS spring and lead to all sorts of gearbox wear and tear, and other problems. It hasn't fired properly since I got it, and this is after I put a new motor in it.. but that's what gun techs are for. It's my fault though, I bought off someone with no feedback, and when I went to get it (face to face deal) he explained what was wrong with it, but he didn't have a clue on what was going on internally (or he did, he explained it as a battery failure which was more or less wrong, because the gun failed with new batteries in it..)

But, my friend bought a CA AK47 in the 700 range (unsure of exactly what he paid) and he got a well maintained, working gun. All upgrades were installed by a guntech (m102403289382 whatever the hell his name is :P) and it shoots like a dream.

Most sellers are upfront and VERY fair about their products. Many people even offer to buy back the gun if it fails (not everybody, though), and usually if the gun has a known problem, the seller lists it. Also, ASC's feedback system will give the buyer a general idea of who the seller is, and how they treat their equipment. You can even look back at their previous posts and maybe find something dirty about their gun (a doctors corner post maybe?).

Realistically, when buying a used gun you want to check the sellers feedback for negative feedback, maybe search his/her old posts, maybe ask around/research the model of gun you are buying for any known problems (ie failures that are commonplace, like safetys breaking in ICS, or crappy motors). If upgrades were installed by a guntech, or the seller has a guntech he frequents often, chances are the gun is probably in great shape. If at all possible you should try and arrange a face to face deal so you can try before you buy, and actually see it with your own eyes.

Glad to hear one of the AEGs I've worked on is still going strong. I've bought and sold the odd thing here...and am on the forum occasionally...

Here's my take on buying used AEGs.
1. ALWAYS research the seller. Trader Feedback is important...but as important are those who are giving it.
2. ALWAYS leave feedback...good or bad. Otherwise, how will the next guy know any better
3. Review the seller's previous posts...if they write like a retard/a**hole, why would you want to deal with that person
4. Never rush into buying something...even if it's the deal of the century (it gives guys like me more time to snap it up). Rush right in once you're very familiar with what you're getting.
5. ALWAYS try to buy locally so you can handle/inspect it, test it, pay for it and take it home. ZERO satisfaction errors that way...for both the buyer and the seller.
6. ALWAYS ask A) are there any cosmetic issues, missing parts, etc..? B) are there any functional issues, problems, etc...?
7. ALWAYS get the sellers/buyers real name and contact number.

This is just a personal thing...
8. Always consider having a "new" (i.e. new in your hands) AEG checked out by someone who knows what they're doing...especially if you don't know what you're doing. You'll finish with knowing exactly what's in it, how it performs and what if any issues there are. Good gun docs will also typically have leads/info on accessories, parts, general sh*t...and they're usually good sources of "filtered" info (i.e. the same info can be found on this site and others...but there's a lot of junk to wade through).

Last week a guy came by with an AEG that he paid $500 for...and it wasn't working despite "working before I shipped it". I took one look at it, pointed out 2 functional issues and said he was misled and if it was myself I'd ask for my money back. I also showed him examples of what would be more appropriate quality for different price ranges...and what made up that quality/price. Spent about 2 hours chatting and Q&A. I didn't end up charging him a dime...and I think that he ended up getting his money back (not my business).

So get Verified...shop around. Find local. Try before you buy. Buy your gun doc TimBits to keep him happy (no chocolate ones).

Haha Viral, I just sold my CA AK 47 to a guy near your area... and all the upgrades were done by m102404 (Tyson) haha. Might be the same one you're talking about. Either way, for the record, no matter what gun you buy, you have to keep it well maintained, and take good care of it, or else it'll end up in the dumps.
