Putting together a MOLLE vest

I purchased my first MOLLE vest, its in OD, got a zip up at the front two medium sized molle panels at the front and of course a very large molle platform on the back.

I currently however have 0 pouches for it.

My primary weapon that I will be utilizing (I do not have a pistol as of yet) is my AK 47 for which I have 12 magazines.

I was looking at some of the stuff in ASC mart but they were quite expensive (naturally I assume its of the highest quality hence the price)

This is what I'd like to have-
3 AK mag pouches to fit all my mags in

A hydration pack

A pouch for my radio
http://www.opsgear.com/ProductDetail...A9-PB&CartID=3

2 Dump pouches
http://www.opsgear.com/ProductDetail...N-MA2&CartID=5

1 utility pouch.

Does anyone have any experience with opsgear? Or would be able to tell me how much shipping cost for them to Canada?

Theoretically i'd like to purchase a pistol holster right now, but I have no idea what kind of pistol i'd want and therefore don't want to be making a hasty purchase for the sake of having a pistol holster.

I know it varies from vest to vest, but do you suppose this would be excessive amounts of pouches- like do I not need the utility pouch if i already have 2 dump pouches- do i not need of those mag pouches- or would you say I'd need more?

Thanks

I don't have anything to say about ops gear, but I might suggest not using 2 dump pouches.

What I find I end up doing is dumping mags into the dump pouch, but then when the fire fight dies down, I bump my mags back into my mag pouches starting with the furthest from where you draw fresh mags from.

That way my dump pouch isn't full and rattling around while I'm running. With a drop leg dump pouch I get 4 ish AK mags into it before it fills. If I'm in a hunkered down position, I won't even dump, I'll drop my mags on the floor to speed reloads if I need to leave, it takes a few seconds, but I collect my mags and either bump my fresh mags to my empty mag pouches and store my spent mags in my furthest mag pouch or I'll toss the mags from the floor into the dump pouch. I also put my spent mags in the opposite way I put my fresh mags, so I can't confuse them when I'm out of ammo.

Just my opinion. Best of luck.

Personally, I'm a bigger fan of shingles than I am of double or triple mag pouches. One mag per shingle, bungee corded in. No messing with flaps to make sure taking one mag out doesn't give its friend a chance to escape, no loud velcro noise.

Example (plenty of brands available):

I've previously used an LBV with double M4 mag pouches to store my AK mags and I've definitely done what you describe with the empty mags

You bring up a good point, I'm not a big fan of Velcro and I was thinking shingle would be the way to go-
http://www.dropzonetactical.com/pouches/shingle.html
its either that or the one from ascmart

Anyone know which shingle would be best?

Army issue is looking into single black AK mag shingles for me. He should have them in OD.

I've ordered the same AK doubles you ordered but am planning to hang them off the sides and use as holsters and utility pouches (ammo, radio, extra mags etc) 4 molle shingles across the front and then stack my pistol mags off of that.

Originally I was thinking of having 2 doubles on the front but found with my current rig, if I was to stack 2 AK mags, they tend to get in the way. The BHI vest I'm using only allowed me to put one AK mag in each pouch too so a triple M4/double AK pouch will be significantly deeper.
