Old CF Issue Boots

Anybody else find that the old boots have shitty grip? I keep slipping and sliding in mine. Are the Goretex ones any better?

No the gore tex ones suck ass for grip... as do the GP boots... all the Issued boots do.
You just have to deal with it

Lets put this on ice;
MkIII - 5 steps...slide
MkIV(GP) - 4 steps...slide
MkVI(Goretex) - slide

IF you want best result, you can sometimes find MkIII's with Vibram soles cut in by a shoemaker. Otherwise aftermarket boots usually have better effect.
I can't even remember the last time I actually wore my Goretex boots...August maybe?

Get 'em re-soled. After that, they're great boots.

Get a piar of Danners (Acadia are great). They're expensive but last a long time. I'm still wearing a pair from 94. Your feet will love you for it. Get the thinsulate ones, keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer. If you can pay 300 to 600 bucks for pretend guns, decent boots shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah I heard the Danners are great boots! I picked up a pair of the Oakley S.I. Boots and They're great!
I don't mind my MKIIIs too much... I like em WAY more than the garbage GP boots I first got issued...

The Gore-tex boots (CWW) slip issue is being addressed by the man...

But the long and short of it is that the CWW boots were not intended as extreme cold weather boots -10*C. I spent this winter in the MKIV's and did fine. There are commercial boots that have a better grip on Ice, but hey for the othere three months of the year $50 for CDN made combat boots is pretty good value.

The MKIVs are the GP Boots... They have slightly better grip but are crap for any sort of wet weather... step in water a little past the sole and water gets in and they stay wet for DAYS and I really do mean days...
the MKIIIs are definately No question the better boots.

Sorry man, I love the Mark IVs. They at least have some cushioning in the sole.

I dont find them nearly as slippery at the wet weathers, of course, I am putting allot more weight on it than most so that might have something to do with it.

My main problem with the GPs are that they have barely any ankle support...
I've fucked my ankle up so many times when I had those boots... and just on ruck marches or even section attacks and such...

Not much you can do about ice and combat boots, you can try the slipon steel grips , ice tracks or something like that. For the other stuff a nice set of soles, not that expensive to have done if the uppers are in good shape.
