Tokyo Marui - Colt 1911 MEU
A REVIEW THREAD NOT A SALES THREAD
Personal Review Owning the TM 5.1 Hicapa and now seeing how I have a MEU in my hands it is great. Grips First thing you'll notice is the grips, they feel nice and better than the plastic feel of the Hicapa 5.1 and step better than the previous 1911. Feel You would think a slimmer mag would mean a slimmer hand grip on it compared to the Hicapa. But I do not feel a big difference. You will notice you can wrap your hand around it better but not by a long shot Look All ABS hard plastic makes me a bit sad since the Hicapa which at least has a metal middle frame. But nonetheless a flawless gun great for those who don't care about bling and want the bang Kick Factor This one feels a little more crisp than the previous 1911 and but compared to a Hicapa it seems to not be as snappy and to me it seems like the MEU is farting compared to the bang of a Hicapa Shooting Superb, absolutely superb. When I shoot the Hicapa I notice a slight wobble when holding with two hands while the MEU seems to not wobble as much when I shoot. Giving a nice snappy kick back but the recoil seems to let me keep the front sight straight without any noticeable wobble. Sights Hands down right out of the box MEU Novak sights are superb. Although it does not have the white dot. My target aquiring for the sights is wonderful. I can quickly draw my MEU and easily see my sighting without having to adjust as much as I do with a Hicapa Magazines The new magazines slip in like a charm. You cannot be a baby and just plop it in but you really have to give it a quick push up to get it in. Over time I assume it will be easier to slip in. Although I am unsure but I believe I just have to "break-it" in for the mags as they seem to not always cycle through all 28 rounds Accuracy Using VA .20g BBs With my Hicapa I had to adjust the hop-up to get it to shooting perfect. As for the MEU I did not have to adjust the hop up and yet I got a similar grouping to the Hicapa at my 30ft two hand test. Of course the MEU grouping was not as tight as the Hicapa but thats without hopup. So you can imagine a tighter grouping once I adjust my hop-up to perfection. Although this won't replace my current TM Hicapa 5.1 but if I picked up the MEU before the Hicapa I think I would have been anchored down to the MEU. My only grief about the MEU is that the gas storage is not as great as the Hicapa. But during each shot when the mag is full it was said that the MEU has had a more consistent FPS rating (Justpistols Review) Battlefield Experience COMING SOON! To fill in some space for now: For reader addicts I'll just say During my basement shooting escapade. Pop cans don't stand a chance Last edited by cbcsteve; February 13th, 2009 at 01:59.. |

Accuracy Update
TM 5.1 Hicapa - Hop-up to the centre TM 1911 MEU - No hop up Okay just got the mag to shoot better now after shooting it some more I take back the accuracy Both my Hicapa and MEU have stock guts except that the Hicapa has a upgraded Nineball Piston Head I wish I could scan the groupings but my pictures don't seem to show it much but the groupings are much better for the MEU. Hicapa Centre groupings off shots 8-12 off centre MEU which only had about 6-7 shots off centre Last edited by cbcsteve; February 8th, 2009 at 01:37.. |

Conclusion:
Between my Hicapa and MEU I feel my MEU will serve me well when I need a accurate tight group pistol and my Hicapa will serve me well as the power gun TM MEU = Sharpshooter TM 5.1 Hicapa = Hard hitter Both are pretty much stock and no upgrades have been done to the MEU Hicapa has a upgraded spring and nineball piston head One last note Thank you to the readers of the thread for the Ratings Last edited by cbcsteve; February 8th, 2009 at 04:46.. |

Interesting Feature
I have never tried it with a TM 1911 as I never owned one... but one very interesting feature I find with the TM MEU is that it does not require a Tanio Koba Slide in order to put on Hicapa slides. It seems to have better racking and the bang and recoil is noticeably louder and snappier than the MEU stock slide. It shoots BBs just fine with a TM 5.1 Slide on the MEU bottom and a 4.3 also fits too. The look of a TM 4.3 and 5.1 on a MEU looks so sleek and sexy. I am not saying the TM 5.1 Hicapa is not sexy. TM MEU = Slim curvy Supermodel TM Hicapa = Bodacious booty supermodel Last edited by cbcsteve; February 10th, 2009 at 20:47.. |

Satisfied with it for now until it breaks apart.
Theres definitely nothing wrong with the stock. The ABS on a Hicapa feels better but the plastic body MEU makes up for its Novak sights and comfy rubber grip Last edited by cbcsteve; February 10th, 2009 at 23:39.. |

The MEU is a top notch pistol, I loved mine but preferred my old school 1911A1's. On a side note, the mags from the MEU and 1911A1 are compatible with either gun. When funds are a little more stable, I plan on getting myself one of these again.

I'm finding myself sticking to the original 1911 mags just because they hold more gas.

They just used a little cloth and wrapped a mundane Styrofoam holder
I can probably plop on your Hicapa compensator slide too on the MEU |

plastic replica of a real rubber Pachmayr grip. I was quite disappointed with that 1 part of the stock gun. For $20 on eBay you can get a real weighted one, that doesn't feel like cheap abs. |

So do real 1911 grips, like real Pachmayr stuff, fit the TM 1911 and MEU?
