Preferred BDU
hey guys I just wanted to get a sence of what kind of BDU's u guys like to use, or do you do somthing different? personally I'm a fan of Muliticam, however my friend is going for the PMC look (less expensive). I know there is a demand for CADPAT and MARPAT but what about ACUPAT, anyone like to use it? how about US woodland or do you like the old olive drab? just give me your thoughts. personally i am not a fan of UK DPM or Tigerstripe (except in mgs3) and Flecktarn I find wierd but awesome (I love it in mgs3 :P). But ya more of a discussion on your battle dress.

Trippy avatar...Anyways I wear multicam, but really you should be thinking about where you are going to play (ie. environment) to maximize your BDU's camoflauge.

I got 2 sets currently. Fleck, and OD (OG 107).
I'm really taking a liking to Multicam though and I'm planning on purchasing a set sometime soon. This is personal opinion though so take it as it is, a personal opinion.

Olive Tropical Combat Uniform, because of my 'Nam re-enacting.
I don't own any other uniforms than TCU's (but I'm starting research on LRRP units, so I'll get a Tiger Stripe uniform in the future). |

see I have already decided on Multicam, plus I live in Alberta a fairly arid region with forests, so Multicam makes sence. Plus Multicam is sexy ;-)

ACU - my new winter/ local field set as we have lots of spruce here Woodland- my main summer set Tricolor - My main fall/early spring Urban - my old winter set Black - night ops Multicam will work like most desert camo but have a larger window of time of the year when it can be used. That said there is never a perfect camoflauge. Each one works well in its given enviroment. Its like asking whats better OD, ranger, smoke, foliage, or sage green. they are all good, its just how you use them and how well they blend with the surroundings at any given moment. |

I have both CADPAT and Multicam. My CADPAT is what sees most use, as I live in eastern Ontario, and it seems to work best. In spring when there's no foliage, it does make me stand out in the woods, but otherwise, it works best for this area.
I haven't worn my multicam yet, but every game I've played to date, I've been playing on the "green team". So from my perspective of shooting at people with Multicam, I don't find it horribly effective in this area except in fall or when playing in open fields in summer with tall, dry grass. Multicam then blends right in. In summer though, Multicam stands out quite a bit for me, even with having partial colour blindness. But Multicam looks very cool, and I plan on using my MC loadout mostly when playing indoors anyway, so I don't really care about its camo properties.

I live in the Parkland Region of Saskatchewan.
CADPAT for when the leaves are out in spring and through to early summer. Here there are a lot of poplar trees, spruce and a myriad of smaller trees in the undergrowth (willow, dogwood, etc). Works well when leaves are bright green. German Flecktarn through rest of summer. Once the green of the trees darken to their mature colour, this is better than wearing CADPAT. I originally bought the Flecktarn because I like the pattern of the camo, just for looks, but it is very functional in the aforementioned conditions. I recently bought MARPAT for early spring (leaves just coming out) and for fall. A lot more brown than the other 2 sets I have. Come April I will be able to report on its effectiveness. I like the looke of MultiCam but am not sure if it would work in the areas I play. Italian Vegetato would probably be my next set if I was to be getting more. |

I read somewhere that those with colour blindness have an easier time picking out camouflaged people. but I could be wrong. |

Sexy Multicam:
I use multicam most of the time but I recently snagged a set of Tru Spec coyote brown BDU's that I am really liking. Only downside is all I need is a red armband and yell something about "vere are ze Juden?" and I will fit right into 1930's Berlin. CADPAT TW works amazingly well in areas with heavy shrubs, matches the Ottawa area foliage ridiculously well. Have some MARPAT I wear come fall when theres a little more brown. Multicam works great in the winter. On the note of Multicam, couple things: Propper - licensed reproduction, a lot lighter than real Crye stuff and glows like hell under a black light Tru-Spec - use real Crye material, ripstop Drop Zone - real Crye material AND made in Canada ACU ain't bad either: US Woodland can be downright scary (yes, thats a woman...apparently): Last edited by LUTNIT; February 5th, 2009 at 19:55.. |
