Timmothy,

That depends on the gameplay style you're after, and it also depends a lot on the players you're with.

There is a wider variety of play styles in airsoft than there are with paintball.

Both sports share similar playing styles, in which players try to 'tag' the other one. The tools are just what's different, where airsoft is much more realistic, whereas paintball marks the players to diffuse cheating. The realistic nature of airsoft is why many law enforcement and military agencies use airsoft as a training tool instead of paintball.

The competitive aspect of paintball is what drives a lot of aggression, but is also what makes cheating more prevalent and requiring a tool that actually marks the player to prevent cheating. Airsoft, on the other hand, is an honor based sport for skirmishes and milsims.

There are other gaming styles for airsoft - it's not all about shooting people. If you're familiar with IDPA or IPSC, there are airsoft counterparts to those competitive shooting sports that hones and enhances a players practical shooting skill and speed in a safer environment then around live firearms.

Take your time to know the sport and make the judgment for yourself. People who are quick to make wild negative comments about something else generally don't know anything about it. It's their way of making them self feel better about their uninformed choice.

Cheers,
Brian

You won't know what's a better sport until you try both of them.

Please tell us who this team is. I don't think any of us have heard of a "professional" airsoft team before.

So? Do what you do, do what you like and love.
Don't let others bring you down.
They wish they had 1/1 scale guns.
Everytime we airsofters show up at a paintball field, paintballers get amazed at what guns we have and they get interested really quick.
To me, if we airsofters had our own field, and paintballers would come and share into our games, I'd be like....

" Yo! What the hellz goin on with their gunz? Pimpin and blingin and anodizing, with little LED lightz, like yoz! Watz up with your outfitz? Colourful and crapz, like yoz! POWA RANGAZ?"

I like airsoft better just for the fact that you can use real world gear/kit and it give's you the feel that your training yourself for use of real steel weapon's. But you have to make up your own mind on what you like not other's.
And when they do make fun of you for playing airsoft just smile & wave and think they just don't know what ther missing out on.

Airsoft is better IMO (but what other answer could you expect, being your asking on AIRSOFT canada )

But really, i can see paintballing in bunkers (as i have done before) and such but speedballing seems kindof lame and unpractical IMO. Also airsoft you can actually aim, thus giving you target practice. It also gives you combat practice. Also i play airsoft so much that it's a habit with out even thinking that whenever i move from my shooting position or walk i put the safety on. And whenever i'm not actually shooting something my finger is out of the trigger guard. Good habit to get into in real steel.

Paintballers, in general, don't like airsoft for a couple of reasons:

-A lot of paintballers have the "OMG IR 1337 Plyr!" attitude, and then they try airsoft playing it the way they play paintball (which they may actually be good at) but get totally hosed. Not willing to accept that they suck at airsoft, they dis it and the people that play it.

-Paintballers have a massively inflated view of how well they shoot, which leads to them accusing people of cheating when "they know they hit you" from 100 ft away. Likewise, it's actually harder to consistantly cheat in airsoft than in paintball as you're far more likely to be called on it. A lot of paintballers who have never played don't realise this and use "it's easier to cheat in airsoft" as one of their arguments against it.

-Similar to above, they get pissed off when they realise a $450 airsoft gun will outshoot a paintball gun twice it's price in both range and accuracy.

-Many paintballers like the speedball style of "spray and pray" and hate the disciplined, accurate, short burst trigger control airsoft generally encourages.

-To many paintballers, airsoft is the crap you get at walmart and CT... which is complete crap.

-And seriously, 99% of paintballers who dis airsoft are under 16. And Mr. Hitman is right... paintballers gawk all over airsoft equipment when they actually see it.
