Gun Name - Brands & Models
Hi Guys; Gordo here again. So I am fairly new to the hobby or Airsoft, and to be honest with you, I am fairly new to the whole world of guns period.
I notice that in the vast majority of the threads on this and other airsoft message boards, guys usually just refer to their guns by the model numbers (ie; AK47 or MP5 etc.) To the guys who are up on their "gun lingo", this must all make perfect sense, but to a newbie like myself, I find myself saying Huh? a lot when I am reading these posts. So I am wondering if anyone knows of, or has tried to build some sort of a data base of actual gun manufactures, and the gun models that they make? I think that an Exel spread sheet or an Access data base program, that had this info, combined with which airsoft manufacturer, makes the different models would be an excellent resource to have. I am thinking about making something like this, but I thought that I would check with you guys first to see if something like this already exists. Thanks in advance for reading my post Gordo

Official ASC "Dumb Ass"

As far as RS (real steel) guns go, I find this site really helpful, once you get acquainted with the basic types of guns, then you can start to learn about the airsoft versions, ASC has alot of information on the different manufacturers

Go to www.wgcshop.com...go to the AEG section.
Pick a manufacturer (there's lots...start with Tokyo Marui & Classic Army). It'll list all their rifles. The drop down at the top filters the list based on model type (i.e. M4 series, MP5 series, G36 series). Then you can flip to a different manufacturer and get a list of what they make. Some make very few different models...others seem to make several variants of each. Honestly there's not that many major types...but a butt load of small variations between different models of a given type (i.e. M4A1, M4 RIS, M4 SPC, etc...are all a little different, but they're all based on the same base M4) Don't sweat remembering all the specific sub-models...to this day I don't know what the difference between an MP5A4 and a MP5A3 (I just made those up off the top of my head...so they might not even be real)...but I do know that they are both MP5 sub-machine guns...and one probably has a collapsible stock. For anything more specific...you can google it when you need to. Best of luck, Tys |
