Version 2 gearbox issues (CA M15a4 Sportline)
Hey guys.
Posting for one of my buddies here. He recently tried to open up his gearbox (Classic army m15a4. Version 2 gearbox) and did so incorrectly (He didnt stick a screwdriver into the spring guide to keep the thing from launching out) and his box exploded Luckily, from what i've seen (I've taken it apart and reassembled it to the best of my abilities) All the parts/shims and everything is still in place. However. The positive wire connecting to the motor has been pinched and exposed. The issues ive been having is when i have the thing hooked up, the gearbox only pulls the spring/piston back (Wires and stuff get very hot, fast) but doesnt let it snap forward to fire. As if there isnt enough power to do so. Is this from the exposed/pinched wire? or Have i done something wrong internally? Any help will be very appreciated. Thanks ________ SICK FROM NEXIUM Last edited by Strelok; April 11th, 2011 at 12:24.. |

Did you do any upgrades? If you changed the spring the spring may be to long count the number of rings from the old spring to the number on the new spring. also if you changed the spring guide did the old one have just a thin washer to the new spring guide that has bearings that will make it to long as well. you may have to cut and file down and rebend the end of the spring to get it to work. I have had this problem before and thats all i did and now have no problems.

My guess is that the mechbox has been shimmed improperly. If it worked well before the explosion and now it doesn't work now, then it's a problem with assembly. Do a search for shimming and see if you can find the proper instructions. It takes a lot of time to put it back together especially if you don't have a lot of experience with mechbox internals.
Exposed wires would usually short out the motor causing nothing to work or a whole lot of other problems. I'd be more inclined to look at how freely the gears spin or don't spin while the mechbox is closed. BTW, you might want to specify, as asked before, if your upgraded anything as well.
