Soom maintance questions
Hi guys and gals, I am new to the sport and just picked up a new Kraken. There are a few questions about gun maintance I was wondering about. The first is battery care. The manual states that the battery should be fully discharged before the first charge but should it be discharged after each time the gun is used. They talk about a battery discharger you can buy and that is what makes me ask about discharging after each use. The second is gun lube. The manual talks about silicone oil or teflon oil. I can remember when I was a kid we would use Singer sewwing machine oil to lube our pellet guns, can this be used for airsoft weapons as well. I will be using what is recomended by the manual but was just wondering. I think that is all for now but I'm sure I'll have more questions as time goes on. Oh one more I live in the Owensound area is there anything going on up here, Barrie is close so travelling is no problem. Still waiting to be verified. Anyway this is a great forum, tons of info.

Yes you should discharge your NiCD battery each time before you charge it.
Yes use light weight 100% silicone oil that's safe to use on plastic & rubber. Last edited by zone 69; January 12th, 2009 at 13:55.. |

It's not the battery that came with it is it? Apparently that one is CRAP and you should just chuck it away as soon as possible.
Some people have reported using the Kraken stock for thousands of rounds and some report it breaking within 3 days. The QC is really hit and miss. So a little bit of preventative maintenance is probably a good route and doesn't really hurt too much at all to ensure that it's all good and won't break on you in 3 days. Also check out "Border Wars" (coming this summer) if you're into the milsim kind of thing.

Thanks for the advice. The reason I went with the Kraken was that it is some what easy to upgrade. I know it is maybe not the perfect gun but can be made to perform well with some work. I do have to watch the budget so big money of the get go wasn't possible but over time I can bring the gun up to par. I plan to try and make it to the show on Feb the 21 in TO and maybe pick up something there. I probibly won't get out to any other events till spring so I have time to up grade internals and externals. Again thanks

Welcome to the sport. Have fun!
There are NO AEG/GBB/weapon sales at the TAC08 convention. There's a pretty good sized gear swap, lots of parts/accessories/upgrades on hand and other neat stuff. Last year there was one AEG session and one GBB session (I think...I wasn't there for the whole thing). There was also a combat knife skills workshop and product demos. There's opportunity to try/test different AEGs/GBBs. NO weapon sales though anywhere close to the location (TTAC3). |
