Element 300% Torque Full Tune Up Kit (Ver. 2)
I recently purchased this tune up kit. It came with:
Polycarbonate piston Polycarbonate piston head metal spring guide metal bushings/shims torque up gear set All of the parts are great and installed fine on my tm mp5j, however the torque up gear set i had problems with. It seems that no matter how much shims I put when I close up the mechbox to test the fitment of the gears I cant seem to spin the gears. I tried with no shims as well and same result. I tried lubing the gears and bushings and it still wouldnt budge. But when I put the regular mauri gears they spin smoothly. Any suggestions? Carl |

Have you tried each gear seperately? You may have a fitment issue with just one. Likewise, the gears themselves may be binding and would have to be shimmed differently.

i did. it seems that the sector gear and spur gear work perfectly together but when I add the bevel gear it gets stuck. its as if it had different grooves thats why its not sliding as smoothly with the spur gear.

... There's a reason these full tune kits are 35 bucks.
I honestly trust stock Kraken parts more than I would element stuff. |

I was starting to think the same. Even the bushings were a pain in the butt trying to put on. I guess you get what you paid for. You're right, on my practice aftermath mechbox. the gears are perfect fit with each other or even mixed up with tm ones. I just hope that when I buy gears in the future this wont happen to me. Thanks for the help!

well atleast the spring guide, piston and piston head seem decent. Im only using an indoor spring ill see how long it lasts. Any recommendations on future gearsets? or should i just stick with stock tm ones.

the modify ones are suppose to be pretty decent, but im a big fan of the guarder ftk kits.

I like the Modify modular gear sets. If you have a non-reinforced mechbox, they're the way to go IMO. You get high quality reinforced gears and anti-reversal latch, perfect shimming every time, and super easy maintenance. Can't ask for much better than that, really. They're more expensive than most gears, but so worth it.

Ahh crap noo CARL, I thought I said stay away from Element I guess that was too long ago.
In the summer I ordered the same Element Torque up gears (not the whole kit) and had the exact same problem and I had a TM MP5 too Then I switched to Modify and all my problems were solved for my TM MP5 and then I was finally able to sell it. Grab some Modify parts from Juggz www.airsoftparts.ca hes about 20-30mins drive from our area. |

Element gearset's bevel and spur gear needs a little bit of filing to mesh properly. Out of four I used one set only worked with no modification, other two needs to be filed and the fourth is the worst which has metal burrs in some places.
