Break in Hop-up rubber

this is what i found... no wonder why i was getting too much hop up and eventually jam when i adjust the hop up near 3/4 to max. This is the http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...roducts_id=899... i wanted to transfer the hopup set to my new CYMA aks74u, then i noticed this crack. it was in my kraken which was doing approx 380 fps. should i go with hard or soft (again) after finding this crack?

I read some where 300fps to 400fps use soft and 400fps and up use hard.

I think it's a defect. I've used Prometheus soft in two different AEGs, both shooting pretty hot, and never had that issue.

use a gaurder clear hop up rubber to about 400fps and use black guarder hop up rubber after 400fps....

rubbers don't come pre-ripped

you didn't assemble it right

the rubber isn't ripped because it was being shot too hard. That never happens.

And don't use Prometheus red (hard) if your gun is under 450. I barely had to use hop-up in my BA rifle shooting 450 fps. Defenitely too much for a gun under 400.

Closer to 400fps use the hard, otherwise you'll replace the soft rubber every 6 months or so, dependant on useage (was my case using the Guarder clear in both a 360fps MP5 and an 385fps MP5, games at minimum one per month, 200-600rounds per game, or two games per month). Another thing to remember is it doesn't matter always, the fps of the gun, but the fact of maintainance, the fact the nozzle shoves a BB through the rubber to chamber, and the simple fact a BB gets shoved through the rubber breech. My biggest issue was the edges of the clear rubber getting ripped where it seals with the nozzle, not with the 'nub' getting torn due to the BB passing it at a higher velocity.

Another thing to remember is the Guarder clear is made of silicon, therefore it'll absorb the required silicon oil application to ensure reliable feeding, and it'll soften and swell.

Just go for an RH65 and not have to worry about the rubber for a while. It's rated up to 400fps, but mine is still good in my CA M24 shooting 490fps w/0.20g, have used it in there for the past two years (and my rifle is always on my back, even if another 14lbs of weight no matter what other gear I run with).

when i received it, it wasnt torn. so thats not it.
i had problems with the rubber twice and i took it out and back in twice, i would have noticed the break, but it only happened the third time i took it out (today). its tough to put it back in, and to take it out. so maybe i ripped it while pulling out. (sounds like we are talking about condoms hahahaha)

And like condoms, it's best to use lube when inserting the "barrel" into the............. ummm........... unit.
