SOCOM Gear - New LiPo Batteries

Simon sent in some interesting news yesterday regarding a new product from SOCOM Gear. Their new LiPo batteries are developed specifically for AEGs and Airsoft usage, and are not re-branded R/C batteries.

These batteries are touted as “HIGH PERFORMANCE AND LESS HAZARDOUS”, and are available in 11.1V and 7.4V configurations, with mAH ranging from 1000mAH to 1500mAH. Although they are claimed to be less hazardous, they still ask retailers to have customers sign a waiver included in every box.

No battery are for "AEG usage" or "RC usage".

They are juste plain LiPo, shaped to fit in your AS rifles.

Most LiPo companies have 300+ avalaible shapes.

There is a place in my town that make custom shaped packs, they are pricey, but they make them up to 1/32" to your specs.

Correct me if im wrong but the output is a bit less.

I think Ive seen ones in the 60's.

But i really havent payed much mind to lipos.

20C is PLENTY for airsoft. Frankly, I run most of my guns on 11.1v at 15C. Smallest battery I have is an 11.1 1500 mAH tri-chuck that is perfect for M4's and any gun that uses a mini. Biggest is an 11.1v 4400mAH that's smaller and lighter than my old 8.4v 2400 large NiCAD packs.

Lol as soon as i found out lipo=Bomb i stoped even looking at them.

A buddy of mine has some lipo batt in his guns and my kwa useing a nicad is still just as fast.

If you want to take that perspective, remember that your cell phone uses a LiPo battery - so the next time you bring it up to your head, be mindful that it could explode.


LiPo batteries are not unsafe, as long as you know how to operate and handle them. If you don't know, then ask someone experienced, or use Google - it's your friend.


I recently upgraded an M15 I traded from Thorazine to run on LiPo batteries, and it shoots over 24 r/s @ 310fps w/.2g BBs. Add a box mag & bipod, and you have a lighter equivalent of the Star M60. Point is, don't knock something unless you know the facts.

Actually thats not correct. Cell phones use the same as Laptops and digital cameras etc.... They use Li-on (Lithium Ion) Battery packs... Not Lithium Polimer theres a different. Li-po are newer hense the issues with some of them and the voltage balancing of a different technology...
