My externally upgraded JG MP5
This started out as a Jing Gong MP-5J with a collapsible stock I got new a while back. It was a fantastic little gun and I gave it a very favourable review in the review section. Fired quite accurately and with good range.
But I did buy this thing with the intention of building it into that I wanted. The upgrades started with a CA metal cocking tube. That added significant weight to the gun and made it feel much more solid overall. The MP5J / A5 look is not one I really liked. I seem to have a thing for full stocks on my guns. I'm prefer the more solid feel of a full stock over something collapsable. So I added a CA full stock to get the A4 style, and was much happier. At the same time, I bought a B&T trademarked CA metal upper receiver which I finally got installed last night. Now the gun feels significantly heavy and more substantial. Other than the lower receiver, the externals (and some internals) have completely been upgraded with Classic Army parts. Currently, I'm missing the cocking handle and inner cocking handle support in this gun right now. I have a complete new CA front end ordered (including flashlight grip) that should be arriving any day now, and that will complete my gun. - CA metal front end / cocking tube - CA metal upper receiver - CA stock holding 8.4V 2500 mAh large Ni-MH battery - CA grip motor plate - CA hopup unit Internally, it still sports the totally stock, never opened JG mechbox (complete with nylon bushings). I want to push this thing to the limit until it breaks to see just how durable the internals are. It's had over 10 000 rounds put through it and still going strong. Once it blows out, I have a Guarder mechbox with some quality internals that I'll be installing as a replacement. So here are a few pics of what it looks like now. Photos are of lower quality. I realized I forgot my camera at a friend's house and took these with my iPhone. They're not bad, but no fine details. http://www.new.facebook.com/album.ph...1&id=500800452

Perfect. Exactly how I like MP5s, simple and to the point. Nice and clean looking.. I likes.

The MP5 itself was about $260. The metal upper and front end were $50 each (used) from the ASC classifieds. The CA stock was bought new from airsoftparts.ca for $50. Grip plate, selector switch and hopup were about $10 each new. The new complete CA front end cost $100, but includes the flashlight grip.
Right now, I'm in for just over $500, but I'll be selling the old JG parts and the current CA metal front end that's currently on the gun, so I'll be able to recoup at least $125 (perhaps more) of the cost of this project. So in terms of a custom project gun, it's a pretty good price overall for a quality gun (well, externally at least). The internals will get replaced once these JG internals blow out. I'm really trying to give this the 'stess test' to see how durable stock JG internals are. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I replaced the stock JG motor with a JG high torque motor that came with a JG mechbox I had bought a while back. Holy crap this thing cranks this gun over hard! Trigger response is almost instantaneous compared to to the slower windup I got with the old motor.

Nice!! How much FPS?

The internals are stock, so it shoots 340 fps. Great as a backup or CQB gun.
I should also mentions that semi doesn't work - the first slow failiure of the JG mechbox. Using my stock battery and motor, I was getting a much lower rof, and occasionally, while in semi, it would shoot a burst instead of a single shot. The more powerful motor and higher capacity battery give it an extra kick, and I can't get semi anymore. I suspect my cutoff lever is wearing down and causing this issue, as it's been slowly occurring more frequently and getting worse. Not a big deal really, but still something that is starting to fail internally and will need to be looked at.

What, no Trigger Master yet? And what is this "single shot" that you speak of? Lol

Trigger Master is something I'll be adding soon. And yeah, lack of semi isn't an issue for me at all, as my guns are always in full auto and I use short bursts. The Trigger Master will be my "semi" in the form of bust fire.

Like my MP5A, have the burst set for 'double tap' instead of three round burst.

The mp5 looks very clean and crisp. I spent more time debating on whether to add you as a friend or not, but then I decided against creeping your facebook.

I'm all for the clean look. I'm not big on accessories unless there's an actual need for it. I dont' do tacticool. The only accessories I can see being of use are the flashlight which will arrive with the new front end, and perhaps a claw mount and RDS.
The MP5 will be used by Sturmur this weekend at Border Wars. Depending on how it performs, I MAY consider installing a longer barrel and using my silencer to cover it up, eventually putting in a stiffer spring for use in outdoors games. I haven't played any indoors games, which is what I got this gun for originally, so I'm debating adding length to it. It's just such a pain in the ass to switch barrels on an MP5 that it's not like I can easily switch it up to adapt it for indoors or outdoors. But there's a P90 in my near future as well, so if I get that, then the MP5 will get the longer barrel. And sure, go ahead and add me on Facebook. Just fire me off a message to let me know who you are first. I get too many requests from people I don't recognize and ignore them.

The JG foregrip does't mate quite right with the CA body and cocking tube. Didn't have a problem when I had the CA front end on the JG body, but now it's not quite right. That'll be rectified once I receive the complete CA front end.
