5.11 boots replica, any good?

guys,

just saw 5.11 replica tactical desert boots at ebanned, considering the price is quite cheap 73.50 USD shipped, anyone tried this? is this boots a good deal for quality and price for a replica?

i know most of you might tell to buy the original one, but all i want is to know whether it is good or not for a replica...

here is the link of the product

the REAL version of that boot doesn't appeal to me. many reasons, but primarily that the lace holes have no metal protectors, but rather just leather. that will wear out VERY fast and become stretched to the point where it can no longer be used. that being said, im sure the problems i just mentioned will be amplified in a clone where QC is not as stringent when compared to the real deal. just my thoughts though.

Had a pair of HRTs for a while, worth it. The lace holes won't give you issues.

Repro is fine

As costume... so as long as you don't intend to wear them ahywhere other than your basement for photos ... they would be great boots.

to protect your ankles... and give you proper support and effective traction.. I would not cheap out on boots.

i play CQB games most, not into a woodland / outdoor game... and most of my cqb times were not more than 3 hours gameplay once a week... so do you think this boots will survive for at least 1 year?

Dude, whether or not you play 3 hours a week only you don't want to skimp on footwear. Consider what everyone else posted. The real thing isn't that much more expensive either, shop around ebay or other online tactical goods retailers and you might find genuine boots at a fairly competitive price - Check this link: http://www.uscav.com/Productinfo.asp...bID=1&CatID=84

You're really not saving much on a repro for something that is relatively affordable, but will most likely make a huge difference in comfort. I don't own a pair so maybe the guys who had a pair of repros will have different views on it, but don't cheap out on footwear.

A foot or ankle injury can happen anywhere, very quickly, and affect you the rest of your life.

Don't cheap out on footwear. Not ever.

I have a set of Bates M-9's and Magnum Stealths.. Love both pairs.. Yes and an ankle injury sucks ass.. Had one last me 6 months of pain.. its now finally away and I have been lucky it has not come back..

Heres a question "What would you rather buy to wear for a day.. Silk underwear or Underwear made of 80 grit sandpaper?" Same shit goes for your boots.

Besides, the repro vs ebay'd real price difference is almost insignifigant.

Save up a tad, buy real.

I have a pair of ATAC Shields and love em'.

I'd imagine the clone being okay if it stays true enough to the original.

Clone as in OEM would probably be alright if made to the same specifications and quality control as original footwear. But if clone repros are only aesthetically identical but lack the QC, then you're taking a huge risk of injury as others mentioned. Materials may feel the same on the exterior, but gluing compounds and application might be different, or not monitored, that may reduce the lifespan or protective qualities of a pair of well built combat footwear.

Add: I know shoe factories in China, Vietnam or wherever are actually contractors that make boots/***** for different brands. The different lines in a factory may be working for several different brands at once. There is a possibility that the repros are from a "missed" shipment, which are genuine but sold at lower cost. Or rejected from the final QC checks - which makes it worse because its not up to manufacturing standards.

The thing is, whether or not you wear genuine footwear, there is always a chance of injury. At least you can go back to the original manufacturer and raise a complaint or even a lawsuit if you got injured wearing their footwear. Its a bit harder to sue them when you're injured wearing a repro that's not built to their quality specifications.

Besides, what is the most likely injury on the field? Yep, strained ankle.

You invest in proper eye protection (I hope!), invest in proper foot protection. You gun can wait for it's latest neatest laser/light/dildo.
