AK-74N mounted rail and blasphemy
Once upon a time, I bought a VFC AK-74 without the side rail, and soon regretted doing so. Therefore I purchased a 74MP rail replica for $35 dollars (hefty i know, but id rather have a proper steel one) from kalinka optics, and also a POSP.
The rail itself was rather difficult to install, mainly because of the lack of space in the mechbox. So i actually had to tap #10-32 threads on the rail itself, to mount it. The middle hole I tapped into the receiver. All the screws had to be flathead, and had to be countersunk into the receiver. Luckily, VFC did that for me for the outer two screws. Hard part was cutting down the screws to the proper length. Now its sturdy as hell. To finish, I masked off the mount and gave it a coat of paint. Oh ya, and POSPs rule. The first few pics are of the AK-74. The last half, AK purists, look away. I was feeling rather silly and had a good laugh. *added my current configuration at the end* WHAT? MY EYES! THEY BURN! My current configuration now:

I don't usually like AKs with rails and scopes, but those side-mounts intended for AKs are alright. I like the look of the gun with the wood and the scope, but not with the rails and bidpod though. Still, nice work.

Purists will be glad to know, the m4 barrel extension was only in a fit of madness and fun. I took it off shortly thereafter. I'm currently rocking the original wood.
As for the ultimak rail, no, its not a real one. It's VFC made. I found it on a trip to taiwan.

Thats pretty dope...is it possible to do just the top rail and the romanian grip on the bottom? I think that would look pretty slick.
