One piece hop up question

I've always wondered if I was missing any "supports" on the side of the one-piece- metal hop ups for M4s.

like this

With one piece hop up, there's no support from the sides so the hop up is free by itself(Though, held in place by the front outer barrel).

I've always wondered if that was okay? because the two piece hop up has the "supports" on the side.

Just very curious

Any help would be appreciated

thanks!

I don't think it's necessary if it's connected to the inner-barrel properly. You could probably cut a piece of wood or something and secure it in there if you insist.

I've never seen any with supports, I've never seen or heard of any aftermarket supports, and I've never heard of any problems related to it being unsupported.

Two piece hopups have supports because they are two pieces so the lower part isn't held in by the outer barrel slots, and their usually plastic, so the supports are required for them.

ya, clears alot of things.

Thanks alot, I understand now.

The reason why I asked was because if the outer barrel were not secured properly and to wobble, then so would the hopup unit, affecting the accuracy. If there was a support, then it will be held in place snug.

If you have a mag in, it can't move anyways.

well, the thing is that Dboys metal bodies have such a huge magwell that even the fattest mag I've used(S.Arms) fits in and wobbles. And S.Arms mags are REALLY fat, didn't work in my KWA nor JG.

So now I guess I gotta make the magwell fatter with teflon tape then...

no fatter, because the magwell is too huge, meaning there's waay too much space for the mag to wobble.

So.....then you'd need to make the magwell a smaller width. I.E. thinner.

OR make the mags fatter with tape, if you mean.

I'd fix your magwell rather than your mags. Then you can use any mags, not just your own.
