smoking jg hk 416

hey, my gun randomly started to smoke so i took of the battery all the wires are melted and stuff. i but a voltammeter to the black wire from the barrel to the black wire in the motor, it gave a reassuring beep. then i put it to the red wires and it didnt beep meaning that the red wire from the battery is not connected to the motor. so im going to open it up and solder it back together but i cant get my mechbox out! can someone tell me how to get it out and what caused my somking gun and what new parts im gona need. thanks

It'd take about as much time to describe how to remove the mechbox as it would be for you to watch the video on Mechbox.com.

So far as what's burned out and what's not...you won't find out until you take it apart. Basically any of the plastic parts of the electrical assembly might be wrecked (i.e. wiring, switch assembly, trigger block, selector plate), and/or the copper contacts damaged.

If you're not confident in diagnosing and fixing this yourself, find a gun doc in your area.

From looking at your pic, remove the other half of the hop-up and the mag release.

If you held one probe on the battery red and the other on the motor, you know you will only get a beep if you pull the trigger, eh?

Dude, you held the trigger down right? Obviously there isn't going to be a full connection when you aren't shooting

oh yeahhh lol, there is a connection, i forgot to hold down the trigger so if there is a connection, that means either the battery or the motor short circuited, no?

Measure between the black and red on the battery side, and the black and red on the motor side (with the motor disconnected of course, the + and - are attached in the motor and will show you it's a short. In other words, disconnect the red from the motor and see if there is a short on that side as well. Also inspect wires for cut insulation.

Then maybe you should get a gundock to do that.

-Remove body pin by pushing it out. Thats the pin in the located above the trigger.

-Remove stock screw out of the green tube if you already have not.

-Remove Mag catch by removing the screw on the button you push to release the mag.

-Remove hopup screws and lower part of the hopup.

All this info is available at Mechbox.com

Im fairly certain this repair is going to be above what you can do. No offence to your abilities but if you could not research or figure out how to remove the mechbox, I cant imagine you will be able to get it back together if you open it. Take it to a gun doctor before you break it further.

In all honestly, I got a bit lost reading Stalker's instructions. I get what he's doing, but as with many things, writing it out and reading it is more complicated than actually doing it.

Alex, you're not going to get it fixed anytime soon if you're posting every 30sec here. There is no way someone is going to be able to fix it for you over the internet.

The electrical parts of your mechbox need to be closely inspected. Damaged parts may or may not be readily evident (most times they are). You still have a ways to go with actually fixing the problem, reassembling and hoping your rifle shoots again.

If you're stuck, take it to someone who can fix it (or better yet teach you how to fix it). Or, slow down, think it through and spend some (A LOT of) time on it.
