bunching problem with gear.

alright so iv been doing a trial and error experiment with different BDU pants and i can't seem to find some good pants that wont bunch real bad when i put on all my tac thigh gear. i have a black hawk thigh rig for my pistol and whats the deal... does everything always bunch... it just feels super uncomfortable. does anyone have any good ideas. im a super skinny guy and it seems to be really hard to find some good BDU pants that fit skinny kids like me. should the thigh holster fit high on the thigh or low? should my load bearing belt sit on my hips or around my stomach? hit me up let me know.

hehe i know i could just get tighter pants but i just haven't been able to find any that arn't too small or too big.

thanks again.

for the belt, most people would say to you that its at the hip.
For the hight, it all depends on your personal choice, try some different config.
Bunching up is pretty normal i think because trouser are loose and the holstler need to be tight.

like i said, try different config and you'll find what you are the most confortable in

hope that help!

Oh and Welcome to ASC!

ya SF and Seals use flight suit. it gives a good look too.

But for a new flight suit be prepare to put some money in it, they are not cheap compare to a set of ACU for 39$ each piece lol

hehe lol, you don't have a airsoft forum for the US ?

best bet for your sizing is that you ask somebody you know( that how to measure the measurement you need ) like sombidy that work in this or something like that, its quite difficult to measure our self LOL

Its not that we know more, we just have less children with stupid answers. Sometimes I find my thigh rig can bunch up the BDU a little bit. I just pull all the material towards the back of my leg or inside towards the interior seem and try to fold the material over before tightening leg straps and its usually fine.

You're on the right track asking about how to wear the gear. Most people wear their tac holsters WAY too low. It should be high on the thigh with the butt just below waist level, typically right where your waist pocket opens.

Most common reason for gear and clothing bunching up is shoddy equipment. IE, poorly designed subloads with straps that don't give enough (or give too much) and don't allow flexion while the leg works.

Straps on subloads should never be TIGHT. They should be used to keep a holster or other pouch from moving around too much, but most of the tension and friction should come from the platform itself (think Safariland). Then the straps are done up so that they're taught when standing in a normal draw position, since thats when they need to be taught.

Too tight and you'll cut off circulation. Too lose and your subloads will bounce around.

You might also want to consider having your pants tailored if you've got underdevelopped leg muscles.

+1 with what MadMorbius said.

I prefer the thigh rig as high as possible, it allows for faster weapons presentation, keeping your body square, opposed to having to lean part of your body over to achieve a postive grip with your sidearm.

I've also seen some a few people modify their Safarilands to run high with one strap.

I agree, I use my Tornado Holster off my hip level, with one strap around my thigh to hold it fast to my leg. Having it half way down your leg is just uncomfortable and not practicable at all.. Morb said it best.
