VFC SCAR-L Bolt Catch
Sorry for being a complete noob on airsoft internals
I just bought the VFC SCAR, everything is working smoothly, but ite seems that the Bolt Catch level does not reset it self after I release the bolt. It needs to be push back to locking position before it will catch the bolt again I'm not sure if this is normal, like I said I don't have experience with internals before. Not a major issue I just like to know if its suppose to work like that Thanks |

Yes I realize that, but the Catch is not doing anything until you press it in, I was wondering if its suppose to be a spring that push it to that position or its suppose to be manually operated to catch when desired

When you say press it in, your meaning pushing the bolt forwards into the 'closed' position?

nop...
When you pull the bolt back, the catch is suppose to latch it so the bolt do return correct? My problem is that when I pull back to bolt, the catch does not latch on to it which allows the spring to return the bolt into its loaded position. In order to get it to latch, I need to phically push the Bolt release into the latching position, so instead pushing to release the bolt, I need to physically push the release in so next time I pull the bolt, it will latch Sorry for my lack of termonlogy and spelling |

Oh i see, in that case i'll bet that their is a missing/loose spring in the catch itself. If your confident(and if you haven't already)open it up and see if you can find what is preventing it from grabbing.
If you need info on how to dismantle it check the last half of this video: YouTube - VFC SCAR ( New ) |

Well I took out the lower receiver, but no dice, try to push the bolt release around, no spring force at all! But I can't go any further down until I take out the Gearbox, and right with my limited knowledge in internals, not a really good idea until I learn how to take it apart properly

Draw your attention to the upper receiver where the actual bolt is located and see if your problem lies in there.

Silent_Angel, are you holding your scar vertical or horizontal when trying it?

Horizontally, if I tilt it to the side it would catch sucessfully more often, like I said this is just a smapp problem, nothing performance hindering

I have a VFC SCAR-L and there is no spring. If you lean the gun to the left when you pull the bolt back it will catch.(mine does anyway) The bolt catch is just loose in the receiver. And if you don't want it to slam forward, just lean the gun to the right and pull back on the bolt and it will release, so you can return the bolt to the forward position by hand. Kinda cheesy but it works.
