Home Made Ghillie Suit?
I was wondering if anyone knows how to make a homemade ghillie suit without using burlap or that jute twine or rope. Is there any way to create a decent and cheap one without these supplies?

Burlap and jute are pretty much the cheapest and readily available ways to make a ghillie suit. Any reason why your looking for something else?

I don't see any viable alternative. You need to take the time to do it, or it will look like a mess and serve no purpose other than make you look silly.

You can get decent ones at a reasonable price, it'd save you the trouble of attempting to create one.

I made one a couple months ago for a winter ghillie.
Took half a hockey net and a few pounds of various white fabrics and tied them in knots for a day. Threw in 5 or 6 strips of browns and greens and probably 50 strips of grays. It turned out fantastic, in an open snow-covered field you cannot see the wearer at all, it keeps you warm and drags a little so it covers your tracks in soft snow. But for anything other than winter go jute and burlap. |

If you go with an existing BDU, making one will cost you from 20 to 40$ or material and from 20 to 40 houres of work.
If you do it right (it's easy) you will end up with a military grade ghillie that is 10000x better than the shit sold on the web for 120$ and up.

Yeah unless you get a used one anything premade is going to be over $100. Cheapest route for a ghillie is a bdu jacket that you already have with burlap or jute shoegoo'd on and then some paracord sewn on for attaching foliage. I did that for the second one i built and it turned out pretty good.

I did several stores to buy shoegoo and never found any. I did try wallmart, but I was unlucky.
