I rented or brokered a rental for someone a couple of times. Prices ranged from 25$ to 40$, and I got IIRC a TM M4 RIS, TM Sig 552, TM G36c, and TM something else (...AK?).
Go for something durable physically, newbs tend to beat the shit out of guns. TM P90s for all! |

Typically if I rent a gun out its $25 to people I know, to new people its $25 plus a deposit of $75 (deposit refundable if gun returned in same condition).

I have 2 rules 1. anything on the outside that breaks...you pay for it. 2. anything breaks inside the gun i pay(as long as the renter dosent hold the trigger for more than 10 sec) |

Something that's snug and can take gazzilion abuses.
MP5, G36C, all SMG type guns are great for noobs. They are lighter than longer guns, meaning less accidental involving lack of muscle power. Being shorter also gives them better mobility and the barrel won't drop on the ground. |

i rented a TM MC-51 for $50 and the other time i played i rented a TM FAMAS for $50. What did i learn? i dont think that the FAMAS is worth $50 lol. dont get me wrong, wasn't the guy who i rented it from's fault, that V1 gear box is just something else. The MC-51 was awesome though. THat being said, $50 also included mags. for the MC-51, i got a high cap with it, and the FAMAS, i got a high cap and 2 standards. very fair prices i thought, though i wish BBs were included. luckily for me, i had my own.

This is just a rant, but it's strange how North Americans don't use the word "lease". In N.America, the guy who leases the item and the guy who rents the item both "rent" the item - it's so bloody confusing!
One time I saw a sign at Home Depot: "We rent equipment!" - I thought to myself - "who do you rent it from?". Not really, but you know what I mean - the word "lease" exists for a reason, but it's completely non-existent from N.American vocabulary. Just a Wednesday rant!

In North American vocabulary the term "lease" tends to imply a longer-term commitment. Like "rent", both parties involved end up "leasing" the item. Use vehicles and property for examples.

The term lease is only really used for cars around here and sometimes buildings/property but even then rent is still just a popular a term.
damn beaten. shouldn't have been ordering Chinese food while typing. |

I've loaned my MP5s out to close friends I trust, and have rented out my MP5A for new guys to use. Typically it's $50-60 per use, I supply mags (be it ease of reloading hicaps, or if they person has a BB loader) means to carry said mags, etc. The person then just has to buy BBs. First time my gun came back with a busted off selector lever, word is the guy cycled it in the staging area when getting ready for the game and it just fell off. Either it was pressed too hard, or it's time had come and the guy did just move it. The cost also covers any wear and tear the person would put on the gun (typically I use anywhere from 100 to 600 BBs per game day, and my guns last a long time. If in one game the renter goes through a bag of 2000-3000 BBs................ that's more wear on my gun.
And, if I have someone's gun on my bench and they want it by said date, like drop it off Monday and have it for Friday night for Saturday's game, most of the time recently I'l have other guns needed by then as well, so I'll focus on those who don't have another AEG to use for the game, and if one of the guns won't be ready in time (I've taken Fridays off work before to focus on getting guns ready), I'll loan out my MP5 with mags, gear and such because it's me that is keeping the person from having a gun to use. |

Rent and Lease have differing legal definitions. As an accounting when I say lease It can mean that ownership of said item was transfered to the Leasor for the period of the lease with buy out options etc.
With a Rental, the ownership of the item remains in the hand of the rentor for the period of the terms. If you want to be really technical it is legalfor a "retailer" to lease guns to people for a 1 year term and have a poor ass collections of said items. Then you could write off the value of the gun against your income as a loss netting you 0 income tax. |

Not to sidetrack an interesting thread but leasing an item does NOT imply or cause the transfer of the ownership of the leased item during the term of the lease.

It would depend on the type of lease.

No.
Lease- "An agreement under which owner fives up possession and use of his property for valuable consideration and for definate term and at the end of the term owner has absolute right to retake, control and use property. When used with referse to tangible personal property, word "lease" means a contratct by whicn one owning such property grants to another the right to possess, use and enjoy it for a specifed period of time in exhange for periodic payment of a stipulated price, referred to as rent." Black's Law Dictionary 6th ed. pg 889. If title transfers during the pendency it is not a lease. If it is a lease to own, the lease ends when title transfers. As an accountant you should be aware of the distinction. Ld
