What kind of Type 96 to buy?

Hello all

Id like to get your opinions on what brand of Type 96 sniper rifle to buy.

So far i have the following options:

UTG Type 96
AGM Type 96
APS Type 96

Any thoughts on the above mentioned brands would be appreciated. One of my largest considerations is the ability to upgrade the internal parts as well.

Thanks for the input.

If you want flawless upgradability get a Maruzen APS Type 96. Anything else and you will have minor problems with.

have you considered the Warrior 1 L96? Just a suggestion, I think I remember hearing decent reviews about it.

You should check out the reviews on http://www.airsoftretreat.com/reviews/ for agm and utg; they have break-downs of the rifles and possibly upgrades. The WELL Warrior 1 L96 underground suggested is another good consideration.

It seems your set on L96 but, even though it's not a L96; JG BAR-10 is a consideration cause of the good quality and upgradability (this also reviewed on airsoft retreat) using TM VSR-10 parts

Should have asked before....but what is the real difference between these spring versions and a gas type 96?

Seems to me they have almost identical FPS ratings.

However the amount of gas you have left, and the temperature for one will effect your ratings and you'll see an interesting fluctuation. I have a STAR AWM and you can see the drastic changes when your mag is full and damn near empty. Out of the spring snipers, I hear people constantly prasing the WELL version of the L96 as other brands like AGM and Both Elephant are ass. I'm highly concidering a WELL L96 for its better Maruzen L96 parts compatibility

So far i have narrowed it down to:

UTG Type 96
APS Type 96
WELL L96

Now the question is upgradeability. I haven't been able to find too much in terms of comparison of these three units.

If you have to ask which is best, I'd honestly reccomend neither. Until you have a better idea of what you're going into, you'd be better off not getting one. Being an airsoft sniper requires the most investment in terms of money, patience, and usually technical know-how as most all sniper rifles must be heavily upgraded out of the box.

I agree with Amos that the Maruzen one would be best. I've heard good things about the WELL L96 myself, but it's still chinasoft, and you have no assurance of quality control. You could get a lemon; you could get one that works great. It's a gamble, and that's not something you really want with an airsoft weapon.

I have a "version" of the Well L 96 which is apparently a Mauser L96... and mine is the review in the reviews section with vids, pics, etc... Anyway - I personally love it and have thrown several upgrades into it. (Zero Trigger, Piston, Spring, Teflon Bore, etc..) and it all works flawlessly. Also, the accuracy and power OTB are more than enough to be reckoned with.

I think that they're right though: It's still Chinasoft so there's a possibility you'll get a hit and it's awesome (like I did) or you'll get one and it'll be a hunk of junk. That's the biggest problem.

Perhaps, if you're willing, look for a retailer with a decent return policy if there's something weird about it?

Just my 2c on the topic

I'm starting to get the impression that next to Armalites, there are more L96s in Canada then anything else.

Is there any way to control the FPS on these things/What controls the FPS. Is it the spring tension?

I'm interested in the Original Post as well.

I was considering getting a UTG L96. I know how chinasoft works, I'd like to hear something from a L96 user who's actually got some field time in on one, instead of an "OTB" review. Thanks
