Wood Bodies for AKM

Hello everyone! I recently purchased my first AEGs, a Cyma AKM and a Cyma AKs74u.

The images are just reference, in case it may help you with the answer to this question. I've already popped em open and cleaned out the gunk, and made sure everything is hunky-dory on the inside, but I'm now interested in wood bodies for my kalashnikovs. The handguard on my AKs74u is, logically, smaller then the one on the AKM, so I was wondering if any of you more experienced airsofters would know if the following wood kits would fit on my AEGs.

AK 74 wood Kit - http://redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/ai...l?prodID=23408

AKs Wood Kit - http://redwolfairsoft.com/redwolf/ai...l?prodID=23409

Thank you for sharing the benefit of your experience!

pm sent. In the event that you are looking for woodkits i would not suggest getting them from any retailer specifically. You can usually find a good deal on ebay for a woodkit or if Cushak decides to begin making woodkits again you can bug him lol.

IMO they both deserve wood off actual firearms, preferably Soviet laminated plywood. And for the love of god get authentic sets, for example, an AK-74 set will look wrong on the AKM.

They should, with a little help from Mr. Dremel. I'm not above sanding parts down to make it fit, if it will improve the look.

I don't believe that wood kit you listed for the AK74 will fit on your AK74u. The bottom piece of the handguard is way longer than the bottom piece on your Ak74u. Look closely and you will see what I mean. You need to get a set made for the Ak74u model.

Yes the bottom hand guard for the AK74u is about an inch shorter than a regular AK47/74 hand guard.

While we're here, does anyone know which magazines an AKM would use? The airsoft ones that I've seen all use the bakelite style ones, but the Real steel ones on Modern Firearms show all the AKMs with the traditional AK magazine.

Use Land force Wood kit. They have an AKM wood kit, as seen in the picture posted above.

Some mod needed with the dremel, but nothing serious.

+ they are so nice.
We were talking about the AK74u not the AKM. Read carefully. Lol

Ah, thank you Ancorp. Does the same apply to the AKs74u?
