ShotShow grenade demo pics

I recently attended ShotShow to look over new airsoft goodies and to show my upcoming grenade to retailers and other reporters covering airsoft interests at ShotShow. I've got a lot of after action work to do before my reviews get posted, but I'll be trickling pics out as I compose my thoughts.

I bumped into reporters from Airsoft Retreat (ASR) and decided I didn't like their attitude so I blew them up in my motel bathroom. These pics were captured with my DSLR shooting motor drive:

http://www.pbase.com/airsoft_innovations/shotshow_share

bathtub: me
guy to the right in blue shirt: Grant from Impact Games Hawaii, one of the originators of ASH Bash
dude on the left: Andrew, product reviewer representing ASR
cameraman: Jeremy, product reviewer representing ASR

The pic sequence is pretty interesting. The first frames have longer less bright bb streaks because the pellets are moving faster. Then you start seeing more streaks that are shorter and moving in more randomized directions, notionally because they're secondary or tertiary reflections.

I hadn't initially realized that a DSLR on motor drive would capture all that much. I'm going to have to give it another try with a better lighting setup and a dark background. Hopefully I can work with a tighter aperture to get a better depth of field to catch more bbs in focus. Currently these pics were taken with F5.0 which is pretty low. Most of the bbs are either out of focus or against a low contrast background. There is one bb streak against Andrews back on an earlier shot so DOF can't be all that bad.

Pretty stunned. Believe it or not, Andrew was grinning even more. Everyone got hit multiple times. Kent Wu from Airsplat was sticking his head around a corner behind Jeremy and even he got hit.

I blew up a lot of airsoft figures during the trip:

-Jeremy and Andrew of ASR
-Eric Barnes & his staff at Airsoft Atlanta
-Hongo president of CAW
-Simon president of MadBull
-Kent Wu president of Airsplat
-Apichart Chong and his band of pirates at Xcaliber Tactical (distributers of the crazy Piper's precision M134)
-Dwayne Dees VP of DBCustom Airsoft
-Emory of Spartan Airsoft

Good times...

So.....we still have to wait for the high-res pictures and high-res slow-mo video until the grenade comes out....right?

Yep, sorry, I'm still working on web material. I've got a lot of writing to do to answer people's likely questions. If my email bin blows up with enquiries, it'll slow down my launch.

Simon is a good guy. He went out of his way to design his own adaptor and his company goes through great pains to acquire licenses for their products. Don't get me wrong: it's annoying to have competition, but at least with MadBull they're ethical about how they compete with me. Simon is very enthusiastic about helping me bring my product to Taiwan. There will probably be some interesting collaborations between our companies in the near future which is very exciting to me!

Ah I see.

All this time I've been boycotting madbull products because of what they did to your adaptor....

Hrrm.

Simon is a good guy. He's conscious of regulatory issues regarding intellectual property and safety. KJW pisses me off, they just took their calipers to my plastic adaptor and ripped it off.

At the risk of sounding gayer than I am,

I didn't see you with your jacket on, but I feel like maroon/burgundy is not your colour. Dark grey, light blues, lilac, possibly?

No no, the shirt is fine - it's that tie that doesn't quite suit.
