Maybe a zero trigger to compensate for the stiffer spring?

Arent those $150+?
maybe id do that later, but the reinforced parts are plenty to support the spring for a while anyways, right? Last edited by zanebrant; February 3rd, 2008 at 15:25.. |

It's not the gun's integrity I would be worried about, it your ability to actually pull the trigger, although the spring you chose should allow for a decent trigger pull.

Well it's not like you're going to be running a PDI 300, so you'll be able use it without being an olympic athlete, however you will notice a stiffer trigger and a harder to pull bolt.
Never having used this exact setup, your guess is as good as mine though. |

Nothing preventing you from getting a zero trigger down the line if you feel you need it.

Not Eye Safe, Pretty Boy Maximus on the field take his picture!

My friend had a 470 fps M24 without a zero trigger. It had no safety on it but it had a 20lb trigger pull lol

Psssh, heavy trigger pull is the safety on the M24.
Set up looks good basic set up. You might want to add a new tightbore and a new nozzle.

IMO don't get high scope mounts, get them as low as possible to the barrel as you can, this will make the scope way easier to sight in from my experiences.

Get the Zero Trigger, it'll save you from having to buy more upgraded sears after every bunch of shots.
Sears are the VSR's weak spot, a teammate kept breaking them with a 400fps spring and got fed up, bought the Zero Trigger and correct piston to go with it, never had a problem afterwards. And, since it was mentioned above and will be shot down, DO get high scope mounts, which are required if you plan to shot with goggles on (it raises your cheek weld giving more clearance for goggles (if you use paintball goggles, expect them to be pressed away form your face, causing gaps for BBs to enter); or if you plan to get a scope with an objective lens larger than 40mm. It's not like they sit 6" above your rifle, they are only maybe 1/8" higher than medium scope rings and are barely noticable. Oh ya, you'll experience a large fps drop unless you cut off (or remove by unscrewing) the airbrake from the front of the piston. I've had guys ask me why their VSR only shoots 330-350fps when they put in a >400fps spring. Airbrake, period. |

Was wondering when you'd chime in...
With the zero trigger will he have to upgrade the stock sear? |

Zero trigger is an entire trigger assembly, sears and everything (and requires the proper type of piston). On benefit of the Zero trigger is you can remove the long bar that sits behind the spring guide, and then pull the entire cylinder out of the gun without removing the stock, trigger assembly, etc. like is normal on standard rifles. Even my CA M24, but I can swap springs in less than 10mins if I needed to as it is. And he made a good choice of getting a 140SP spring, Laylax/First Factory is the best, reduces bolt pull weight and trigger pull weight while still putting out a good fps........... I have a 150SP in my M24, cocking it is relatively easy, and trigger pull is totally managable, even if a bit heavy.) Worst springs to get are the PDI "%" springs, they will destroy a gun (experience). VSR's biggest weakness is the sear design, and I haven't heard of too many aftermarket sears standing up to the job of holding back a heavy spring. |
