I lived in Japan for 2 years and bought tokyo marui airsoft guns, but need gas
Where can I get it in Canada? all the sites offer so much bs that its hard to understand, and ebay.ca has nothing at all, basically worthless site, so where would I obtain the HFC 134a "gas blowback" gas for my guns? I own the chrome stainless desert eagle, 9mm uzi, m11 shotgun, mk23 socom pistol, p99 fixed slide pistol, and a 6 inch magnum. Do you guys know the type of gas Im talking about and where I could get it? I know its difficult to get things in canada but I need the gas.
EDIT: I just signed up and didnt realize that there are Japanese people on this board, although im canadian, i miss japan, and u guys will know what im talking about for the gas i need. Last edited by mattymac; January 17th, 2008 at 22:34.. |

Welcome back to Canada, where we've been shooting propane/green in stock Marui pistols since like 2004.
No, we're not being foreigners about it, either. This site will help you: http://www.airsoft-innovations.com/ Edit: Cuuuuuuurse you Hadeeeeeeeees! Caveat, green is ok for stock Marui gas blowbacks, as well as some other brands. It's generally not recommended for most non-blowbacks and certain brands.

Use propane.
Also, which part of Japan did you live in?

No more talk of gun sales.
Period. Next person who mentions it in here gets an infraction. mattymac, Propane, although generally okay to use in the newer Tokyo Marui guns aren't fully recommended nor endorsed for use in Japanese guns. It's safe to say that using a more powerful gas in ANY gun will result in harder wear on your gun. That's a fact. Although the newer Tokyo Marui GBBs won't break in a minimal number of shots using propane, they will eventually wear down faster. If you care a lot about your guns, it's safest to run with the softest possible gas to reduce wear. In this case, Tokyo Marui guns are designed and manufactured to run on a minimum of HFC134a, also known as tetrafluoroethane "duster" gas. It's the same gas used to blow dust out of your computer components. You can buy it at any Wal-Mart, electronics store, office supply store, etc etc. Just make sure you it's TETRAFLUOROETHANE and NOT difluoroethane! Read the contents on the label to make the determination of what the component is. It seems that difluoroethane has begun to take over as the main component due to stupid kids huffing tetrafluoroethane. It's a liability issue. Other tip: make sure you add a drop or two of 100% pure ultra light weight silicone oil to the gas when you fill the magazines once in a while. The difference between computer duster gas and the gas you'd buy for airsoft use is that the airsoft gasses already have that oil injected in to the gas. I would personally probably stick with using duster gas in bone stock Tokyo Marui guns, but that's just me. Other users don't mind the added wear, as it gives them an excuse to upgrade later - it's your call, really. As for where to buy the parts needed to do the gas fills... well... seeing as there's hardly any airsoft walk-in stores in Canada, you're pretty much out of luck if you don't want to order online. And if you don't have those items, it's a lot tougher to fill your magazines without those tools. Although, if you look around a bit, you'll find details on how to refill airsoft canisters with silicon oil impregnated duster gas. I've done this technique several times and it works very well. Of course, this will require you to have an existing can that has a nozzle which fits airsoft gas magazines. I can vouch for Airsoft Innovations, though. That company and all of its products are the brainchild of AirsoftCanada's very own Madmax. It's a good product and it's backed by good care. You can't go wrong with his products. Getting their duster adapter will save you tons of headaches in the refilling process....

As support to what ILLusion stated your better off purchasing either the propane adapter or the duster gas adapter, as it stands I do not know how old your guns are but as I understand it the newer Tokyo Marui guns can run propane or green gas straight out of the box, while the older models required upgrades to support the stress of running a heavier gas. Personally I would stick to using duster gas with your guns, but Im gona go ahead and provide additional info just because.
Remeber tetrafluoroethane and not difluoroethane, I believe there is an additive in difluoroethane that has been known to eat away at the O rings. Not all duster gasses are created the same so keep an eye out. Just for a quick refrence, green gas and propane are the same, the only diffrence is, is that green gas has silicone oil added already while, propane you have to add it yourself. Green gas also costs more than propane. So the adapters basiaclly pay for themselfves over time Green Gas = Propane (http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=6268) Anyways, Im sure you probly know how to take care of what you got already but hey, it never hurts to offer a little more info, and maybe you might pick up something you didnt know. Gas gun maintenance: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=18793 So please if you get a chance fill out some details about yourself in your profile so maybe some of the local guys can hit you up or you can hit them up for help you have any questions or need assitance with something.
