Stupid Film Students
DId anyone else catch the news?
Two Film students were shooting an antiterrorism scene in downtown Vancouver using, you guessed it, airsoft guns. ERT and local police were called to the scene and both young men were arrested. They showed the guns on the news and fromn what I could make out on was that POS silver crossman pellet gun that seems like everyone has and the other was a small 1911, silver, I think that it was the one that has the fishscale slide grips. Anyway FUCK people are retarded!

Hey, Im a film student....
But ya, thats just retarded. I remember when there was a student film done in my town and they were smart enough to obtain the proper permits and inform the local police. It all went by smoothly and they did really well on the project. Its not like its a difficult thing to do properly. |

I wasn't blasting film students as a whole... although that's not a bad idea I was just passing on another airsoft related police incident.

I looked for the link, but I couldn't find it. It was one of the last stories they ran on the six o'clock news. I don't think that it was a big deal, just airsoft related. It was at the corner of Hasting and Burrard, probably where that small park is with the concrete structures.

Either SFU, or Vancouver Film School.
Is there any paper, or online story I could catch - tried google with no luck. If it's VFS, I happily go down to my old alma mater & on behalf of the Canadian airsoft community, kick the high holy shit out of those involved. Side Note: Four years ago, while still an armorer, I gave a series of lectures on weapons in film industry - nice to see it stuck. Fuckin' morons... |

If it was VFS they will probably get kicked out of school. There is a section in the student handbook that specifically forbids using any sort of realistic prop gun outdoors ever. Prop guns can only be used indoors with staff supervision and have to be non blank firing static popguns.
