G&P M4 CQB-R : Advice on cracked lower receiver.

Hey folks, okay so here's the situation :

I bought a G&P CQB-R two years ago. Worked great, gamed it 4 times since. Recently I was planning to join the PTW bandwagon so I decided I should sell all my excess stuff. The CQB-R had to go.

Unfortunately, and much to my surprise, I noticed that the lower receiver was cracked as shown bellow here :

From the looks of it, it's definitely not a scratch (I can see a gap growing if I force it a little). It's a clear crack and it went through bottom to top of the lower receiver.

I'm still hoping to sell it but to tell you the truth, I have zero idea how this affects the price tag I could slap on it...

So basically the options would be to :
a. Repair it;
b. Replace the lower receiver or;
c. Sell it as it is.

Any input would be welcome.
Thanks to all for your time!

Well you can glue or JB weld it up and paint it taking the used car salesman route, or you can just replace out that part. Then you won't have the buyer coming back at you a month later when the repair blows out.

Well If I post an add for this gun, I'd advertise it as it is. If the add clearly displays the crack I don't think there's a chance the buyer would call me a liar. At least I hope not

Just sell it as is, as for the price take into account the price of having to replace that piece and then you should be fine.

To prevent/reduce the chances of the cracks propogating, drill a very small hole at the ends of the crack(s). This seems strange but it works. The explanation for it is that cracks cause a stress concentration at the furtherst point of the crack. The stress at that point is inversely proportional to the RADIUS of curvature of the crack. So by drilling a hole you increase the radius, thus decreasing the stress and the crack is less likely to continue propogating.

You can go back and fill in the crack with appoxy or JB weld afterwards. Anyways, not quite what you were asking but hope that helps!

If your willing to wait, AAsurplus has a spare brand new never used G&P lower receiver from fixing a broken SAM-R. Ask Mark, tell him I have the lower receiver at my place.
