Lower Reciever or Not?

Just before i start, i HAVE read the importing airsoft thread on the site, but to my knowledge, they didn't mention anything about chassis for pistols. Would and imported metal chassis for a Marui 5.1 be considered part of the lower reciever even if its not attached to the grip?

http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...l?prodID=22128

And just so i know, this WOULD be considered a lower reciever and thus i would NOT be allowed to import, correct?

http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...l?prodID=22092

Thanks,

Donster 125

(P.S: If this is considered a spoonfed thread, than i apologize)

From what I understand, lower recievers and pistol frames are restricted items.

yes i know that lower recievers are, but you say the chasses by itself is considered a lower reciever?

Before I start, Id just like to apologise as Im not exactly 100% on on how useful what I have to offer can aid. Its really difficult to say as there are certain restrictions on lengths for upper slides for how long they must be, but as for lowers, Im kinda in the dark.

When it comes to the CBSA if they believe its a part for a firearm, you run the risk of having it seized( even if it is permitted ). I wish I knew 100% where a chasis stood on that. Hopefully someone with a little more knowledge can help you.

My rule of thumb when it comes to importing some items is, treat the CBSA like a blindfolded retarded kid with a pinata, if they think theres something there, their gona go after it.

i understand your ponit of view, but then that would negate the fact that i am allowed to import a slide. now if the chassis were attached to the pistol grip, than i can understand completely, but its its not... than what? and would an ABS pistol grip then count as a lower reciever?
Thanks for you input btw Tokyo7

Slides are permitted because they aren't classified as restricted items. With this particular model of pistol, you're dealing with a lower receiver that houses the hammer and that likely has the serial number on the real steel. You're also dealing with a pistol grip that houses the trigger mechanism and *looks* like an integral gun part.

The fact is that lower receivers are restricted. If you're not sure about whether the part may or may not be a lower receiver, then isn't there a probability that the same thing may occur with the border agent checking your package?

Hicapa grip....

I just ordered a Shooters Design replacement grip (as pictured) & it passed through customs. I've ordered two metal slides with full trades = no problem receiving either. Both packages were inspected.

As for the lower chassis(frame) , I think you'll end up wasting your money & have it confiscated. It does house the firing pin & that's a NO NO !! I spoke with Illusion & he said you can take a chance but you just never know what that CBSA guy/gal is going to allow thru!

Good luck!

Uhhh....aren't firing pins in the slide? Lower chassis's do have the serial number and other firing mechanisms though.
