Sniper BB

I was wondering as im saving up to purchase my next two guns: WELL L96 and possibly a tm or KJW Sig p226 (whichever one is better, not sure). I was wondering what would the best round be for a sniper. The WELL L96 shoots 460-480 with .2s but from experience with my friends .2s and the CA M24 the .2s like to fly around alot. Mind you i dont want to use the metal bbs as those could seriously hurt if shot in the face. I believe my friend uses .23s but cant ask him as he's in boot camp right now. Thanks in advance guys.

I've had excellent results using 0.28g bb's in higher powered AEG's. I am sure they would be equally well suited to a spring rifle.

BB Bastard is my brand of choice, excellent quality and price. Plus it gives me an excuse to visit Army Surplus. Be warned, entering army surplus almost always results in spending WAY more then you planned. There is just way to much cool stuff in that shop...

Oh army surplus how i love/hate thee. The guy at armysurplus is one of the best guys ive ever met and is always waiting and full of knowledge to answer all of my airsoft and military questions in a friendly a polite way by saying "dude I sell pants". Which reminds me i gotta buy cadpat pants off him lol. And once i gett the l96 will buy some bb bastards off him. And yes no matter what circumstance or how much money you have you always spend way more than u wanted to at army issue.

Exactly, 0.28g minimum, for that fps I'd say go right for 0.30g BBs for cost efficiency (as in, a box of 500 0.29g Super Grand Master precision BBs will cost you about $25-30 if you order them from overseas, but a bag of KSC 1300 0.30g BBs will cost yo uabout $20 from within the country........ if you can find). Heavier always means higher accuracy and longer range, no matter what gun they are used in.

I never put BBs under .30g in my rifles.
.30g is the best all around bargain for sniping. You get range and decent precision.

.43g are great, but the range goes down fast.

Might sound like a dumb question, but better to ask. will they hurt tho? Like my team we play with standard cadpat. And usually no face protection except of course for the shooting glasses.

Well as it stands, when it comes to sniping its a very debated issue, sniping is something that requires paitience and understanding. As it goes, a good sniper in airsoft knows his gun and knows what his safe range of engagement is. It will most likly hurt still at a decent range. But if someone shot me in the face at 15 feet with a rifle loaded with .30s or higher that shot 400+ fps. Id most likly blow the whistle and suggest to an admin that that certain person should be ejected for being an asshat.

You'll be fine. The shots will still sting on open flesh, but well we all knew that anyways.

I got shot two weeks ago from my KJW M700 (thanks Testie, never been hit that hard before) from maybe 100ft (I was in the tower and hunkered down pretty good trying to engage attackers with my M24), right in the forehead with a 0.30g BB. This gun at one point chronied around 550fps in hot weather (+35C) using propane, previous times I've chronied it this year it sat around 450fps roughly (+/-30fps). The day I got shot, it was what, +18C out or something?

Anyways, it hit hard, left a good welt with a bit of blood, I liked showing it off over the next few days............... took about a week for my little scab to finally go away............ today, you can still see a small light purple area from the impact. AND, I don't bruise very easily at all!!!

So ya, they carry decent kinetic energy, is why they are more accurate and have farther range than lighter BBs.

TIP: Use the same BBs in your GBB as you do your sniper rifle, they work amazing for range and brush penetration!!!

If you used the same bb's as you do in your GBB wouldn't your GBB only be able to shoot a fairly small range?

Eg: WELL 96 shooting .30's - .43's

Vs

KSC Glock23F (HW) shooting .30's - .43's with a full upgrade kit

Wouldn't the GBB shoot very weekly from using that big of bb or would it still shoot a distance?
