feedback on Mp5's
I'm looking @ the TM mp5 RAS. It looks pretty mean!!! Anyways, can someone send pics of their custom set up or feedback on how the mp5 plays in the field. I'm thinking I may not get the range I want for this gun, but theres always upgrades.
Thanx |

With some basic upgrades (spring, recommend the Prometheus 110) and metal bushings, the gun is reliable and works great in the field as long as yo uuse 0.25g and up for BB weight (I've used 0.25g for a couple years, this year went full 0.28g and am very impressed). I have two TM MP5s, both shoot 2" holes at 30ft (since I work on quite a few varieties of guns, VERY few of them can do that), one is upgraded to 365fps, the other used to be 385fps (the spring wore out, need a new one) and with the Guarder clear hop up rubber I put in them, it's nothing to get my rounds downrange an easy 200ft, and brush penetration is really good too with the heavier BBs.
Aside from the V2 mechbox, the TM MP5 is very reliable, accurate and rugged. |

I was running with a stock MP5, and never had any problem with it, even in outdoor. It's upgradable to hell and back, so there's isn't much you can't do with it. The folding stock is nice for CQC as well. There are only a few issues I've had with it, most of which are fairly minor.
1) The scope mount for the RDS gets in the way of the iron sights, so you won't be able to use them both en meme temps. Either get a different mount or don't use iron sights. I personally opted for door #2 2) A common problem with all mp5's (AK's and a few other rifles) is that the front sight/flashhider will fall off if the screw on the bottom isn't tightened. Again, an easy fix - give it a quarter turn with an allen key every few weeks or after a day of heavy gaming (If you don't know what I'm talking about, you will once you see it.). 3) For outdoor gaming especially, a mini battery isn't going to last too long. There are a few options here. You can either carry multiple batteries, get a high mAh battery, or throw a battery in the stock. If you're really unlucky your mechbox might crack, but that's a fault of the v2 box rather than the mp5 design. All in all, the mp5 is a good choice. |

Excellent!!! Thats what I needed. I wanted a versitile weapon for any situation, CQC and accurate long range battles.

Have ya looked at the MP5K's? V3 Gearbox in a smg sized gun!
Here's one of my guns I used to have. TM MP5K. Hurricane FTK in that one, was pumpin out a consistent 398fps. 2nd one hehe, this was a crazy little MP5k. During first upgrade, it was firing at 420-430 fps with .20g's. Swapped spring so gettin a 390-395 area fps. Was an excellent gun, never once jammed, 185-215ft shots from hiding in my sneaky spots, got good kills an amazing accuracy. For the longer shots, I use AE .25g Black bb's. They blend in with the shadows of the forest so god damn well you really have no idea where the shot came from, I love em! Best part is, you can weild it one handed no problem, it's like a sniper pistol. With full auto capability. I used 100rd mic cap's with it, it loves them, an decent weight ratio even with battery. |

I see many people mounting silencers on Mp5's. I assume this gives better range and accuracy, (i.e. Longer barrel)

Nope, sometimes it's just cosmetic. If you really want a long range gun, you are better off getting a longer gun to start with. It's also a hell of a lot cheaper.
For more information you can check the Reviews section, or go to a local meet and get age-verified at the same time as you'll see the guns in person. |
