Tanks: If paintball does it, why cant we?
Just stumbled upon this as my friend was showing some of his paintball stuff off.
http://forums.warpig.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=10637 Sure some of them are ghetto, but the basic idea still runs. A Bradley IFV based on a long chevy van chassis would certainly spice up some larger games... |

Oh boy, I think I've seen the bottom of the barrel. What is that, cardboard? Or plywood with cardboard coloured paint?

Just goes to show you with some cardboard and little creativity, YOU to can turn that old golf cart into a battle ready tank...well sorta...

I actually had a tank idea.
Instead of trying to copy an existing one and so it ends up looking fugly, I though of creating one from scratch. Maybe more like an IFV though. All you would need would be a pickup with the top chopped off and a wooden structure around it. I had the 3d plans somewhere...

actually, now that i think about it, it wouldn't be that hard to make one, my buddy and i have made some really complex things before (dune buggy's segways, go carts that electric car...) and this sounds like a great project to dive into. you could make the main gun fire 200rd launcher rounds, and have a coax-el gun as well, maybe even throw in some smoke launchers just to show off to the Americans and there plywood tanks
dammit don't give me ideas man.....ah to late |

building a tank, sure, restoring an old Leopard C2, far more awesome.
Downside to restoring real steel is they're usually decommissioned, and therefore full of torch cuts. But the JSOC M75 APC should be running next year lol But having a tank in the game raises issues such as: how to destroy it WITH the crew noticing they've actually been hit, god knows they're not going to hear a nerf rocket hit the hull over the roar of a diesel engine. Not to mention scores of safety issues. Makes a nice prop or stationary turret though! |

you could line the outside of the tank with impact sensors and in most games with tanks they have a ref watching the tank be allot of fun to do if ya ask me, downside is airsoft rocket launchers are pricey and hard to come by |

Don't the Strykers in the US use an M113?

A "Stryker" is the wheeled-replacement for the M113 (which has tracks).
Strykers have multiple weapon and configuration options (25mm Bushmaster, 105mm gun, TOW missles). They will withstand all but shaped charges (like RPGs) or anti-tank weapons. M113 won't even stop AP small arms rounds (aluminum armour? Whoever thought of that should be shot). Wheels are far superior to tracks for speed, maintenance and stealth. M113 has no offensive armament, unless a GI puts a .50 on it somewhere. M113 designed in the 1950's. Stryker designed in the 1990's.

so who knows, build the frame out of steel and go with a stryker or bmp wheeled look make the body panels out of fiberglass and PVC and mesh, then paint and add all the greeblys in metal and stuff after. Main gun could be based over an 6 shot launcher which would mean reloading times, it could fire 200rd launcher shells, other guns on it would just be beefed up AEGs, you could add smoke launchers then just use auto parts for things like lights and stuff It would prove to be a fun and interesting thing to do, if we do it. |
