G36 strong?

I'm really skeptical of anything not full metal, and I know ze Germans have been using the G36 for years and are perfectly happy with it, but is CA's G36 platform really that strong? Like if I fell on it in a game, would it just break in half on me?

Depends on how you fell, but probably. The stock hinge WILL break if you were to force your weight on it from one side or another, and if you tripped flat onto the gun, you'll probably break the magazine and the mag well. I doubt the gun itself would break in two though. You might crack the foregrip, or the carry handle if you have a scope or something on it and it twists it.

My best advice: Don't trip onto your guns.

Just remeber, real G36=fibre reinforced polymer composite, CA G36=plastic.

It's always a good idea to watch your steps, if you have a bad fall you are equally likely to break bones as well as your gun, and that can be much worse and more expensive depending on where you work.

The STAR uses much better materials.

They're super rigid... and have no flex. However, they're still not RS...

I thought the CA G36 serie was made of fiberglass, or at least a mix of fiberglass and some other plastic.

Anyway, my CA G36K feels a lot stronger than my TM M4. I can lift it with one hand on the stock, pistol grip, carry handle or handguard without the feeling that something will break. It's one solid piece.

Only the cocking handle feels cheap and weak. Unless you like to pretend to cock all the time or if you vigorously adjust your hop-up, I can't see why it could ever break.

Dropping the gun on its front end would most likely break something though.

The CA G36 flex " issue" seems exagerated. Only the sides of the magazine housing can be easily flexed. The carry handle flex is barely noticeable. I'm no scientist, but it seems to me that the slight flexibility is an advantage over rigidity. I'd rather see something bend a little rather than crack.

The G36 is also streamlined, which I guess reduces the chances of having it caught on your gear or anything else.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure no AEG can be treated like its real-life counterpart.

The CA G36 series guns are made of 'glass fiber" it's not as strong as a real G36, but it's a damn sturdy material. I can hold my CA G36K from any point with one hand and it doesn't bend or flex. I've held it with one hand holding the flash suppressor/outer barrel and even that doesn't flex. I'm pretty sure that if you were running full out and tripped onto it you may crack something though. The weakest part is the mag/mag well area I believe.

I dont want to have to be gentle with my weaponry... Thanks for the help, guys. Even though the 36 series are all sexy beasts, I think I'll just stick with full metal. I want to know that I can rely on my gun, and never doubt it. I want to be able to trust my gun more than my girlfriend. It will always be there for me.

Airsoft is mostly monkey metal and low-quality cast aluminum; you'd be surprised at how well airsoft plastic fares in comparison. PTWs are the exception though, they're built like a tank.

...what does the Germans using the G36 have to do with the CA variety of G36? They aren't using the CA G36 are they!?

Yeah, that guy sounds like he's confusing real weapons and Airsoft.
