Need help with finding parts... STAR

I have a STAR para 249

The problem is the switch that winds the box mag when the trigger is pulled is broken and needs replaced.

I have looked all day for something on the net, have come up with nothing.

Could use some help getting a hold of a store that has these parts or even getting a hold of STAR themselves. I havent gotten a responce from them in over a week.

any help would be great.

Wes, it may just be a little microswitch available from either a hobby shop or an electronics components shop. Active Components is right across Calgary Trail from Hobby Wholesale. If they don't have them, well, maybe you'll have good luck with STAR.

I will try them out, but looking at it, i think its specially made from STAR.

The main probem is that the wire keeps coming off and no matter what you do to fix it, it just breaks off from constant bending...

I should be able to figure something out, but if i can order a piece in, it would be nice just in case...

There used to be a shop on the south side called Cardinal Electronics I used to haunt. Don't know if they're still there, but I'm sure there's other shops around.

There are companies like McGill, OMRON, and a slough of others who make microswiches, in both low and high voltage ratings. If yours has a number on it, likely it can be found, perhaps even locally.

If not, there's always gun tape, JB Weld and solder. One of those must work!!

Well, I think i have it fixed...

I took it upon myself... I used a spoon from a fishing hook asa the base and soldered the wire directly to it, and added thicker wires to help with the strength problems do to constant movement of the upper switch that I soldered the wire directly to as well...

So far she works and will test it this weekend in the bush... I have it so if it does come undone, it can be a quick fix in the field...

What I love about this STAR M249 is that I can take the gun apart in 2-3 mins for internals, and 20mins for every screw and piece on it.

So now I am starting to build a back up Gear box and could use a list of internals for the 249...

The little metal piece that connects the circuit for the box mag by the trigger broke on my m249. (I'm assuming this is the switch that broke on yours as well) I made a quick fix for it by gluing another metal piece to replace the broken tabs, and seems to be working well so far.

But yeah, STAR customer service is horrible, I emailed STAR nearly 2 months ago for a replacement part in case my quick fix was going to break, and I'm still waiting for a reply from them! G&P on the other hand has great customer support when I lost a couple of screws on my SR-25.

Thats the exact repair i did... Great minds think alike... I also added bigger guage wires, as I found the STAR wires were too thin and kept snapping with stress from moving parts...

As for STAR... I dont think we will hear from them. F'n punx :kill:

I routed the wires along the body, and seems to be holding up. I bought the gun for a friend off the forum. Already replaced piston and 2 sets of gears.

I taped up the trigger lift part a bit, so the trigger doesn't lift as high. So that way the 2 metal pieces won't get stuck together when you go trigger happy.
